He means well, is hella smart and knows what he's talking about... it's the attempt to understand what he's talking about is the downfall of his class. He has a tendency to drift off into la la land when discussing a topic. And good luck if you can't take notes at 8908765 miles an hour

Turned what should have been a fascinating course into a chore! Made references in a first year course to outside material that wouldn't be known to first year students... Puts NOTHING online, not even the syllabus… Mumbles and is monotonous… Confusing as he changes stories and interjects with unrelated material.

This is definitely not a course you should take if you're looking for an elective to boost your GPA. That being said, if you are interested in, and appreciate ancient Greek/Roman history, then this is the guy you wanna learn from. He does make the test difficult to ace, due to the few rather random questions he throws in there, but still passable.

totally awesome prof. He is hard as hell but if you have half a brain in your head he will actually not completely hate you. He thinks PEI highschools are a joke and produce morons. He has a dark and twisted sense of humour which is hilarious. You have to WORK in his classes if you do not want to fail. always always read the text book.

I had him for Classical Mythology. He is very knowledge and has a unique sense of humour that appeals to me. Only has tests which is intimidating. As long as you take lots of notes and review on a regular basis you should be fine. Expect twists in some of his test questions and look for the main points in his lectures and readings.

" I'd turn back if I were you ". He is tough, boring, and rude (if you ask me). He expects you to know everything he says and everything in the text. He tests on random stuff that seemed unimportant. If you know anything about Roman Civ, you may be fine. But if you don't, do not expect to learn anything. His class was hard, almost impossible even.

Although Buck clearly knows what he's talking about, it seems like he forgets that most of his class doesn't. Rambles a lot and expect to see questions on your test asking about things you've never heard of. If you don't go to class and read the text theres no way you'll pass.

Excellent prof. If you don't come to class or suck at taking notes then you'll probably fail. But if you show up and can take half decent notes you'll learn A LOT of interesting stuff. Fair tests (but not easy). Tells pretty hilarious stories.

One of the most knowledgeble profs at UPEI. A lot of people complain because his test are hard( which they are), but if you aren't a complete idiot and go to class then you will get a decent mark. Take a class from this man and you will learn a lot.

The man is a maniac. NEVER take this class. I asked for additional help on at least two seperate occasions because I feared failing the class, which he denied, citing "there is nothing I can do for you". I took this class as an elective with four other 400-level courses. I got an average of 80 percent in those classes, and failed Dr. Buck's class.
