Comment:

Clauss is the worst teacher I've had at CNM and this is the second degree I am working on there. He gives no schedule, no lectures, and no help. Youtube teaches better than this man. He has us do subnets which is good but then he tells us what the very vague assignment is and then sits at his computer the rest of the class. Don't ask for help.

Mr. Clauss is not as real world as it gets. He has no real world experience, and seems to think he is above everybody else. He is easliy the worst teacher I've ever had, and really wish I could have had someone who knows what they are doing, and can teach me something for the real world. Time for him to move on.

Mr. Clauss is as real world as it gets. He tells you exactly what he expects of you, and if you are willing to think outside the box you will do just fine in his class. Read the book, Google, and once you have an understanding of a task he wants you to preform, and are getting stuck, then ask him and he will be more than willing to help you out.

Has us come in every day and breaks down an IP's subnet, gives us a short lecture, than throws us to the wolves on a lab without telling us how to do what we're supposed to do. He is trying to give us a real world situation, but unfortunately if you don't know what he wants you to do, can't exactly do that!

Clauss is a very unprofessional instructor. I'll give him credit he knows his material. But person wise believe me he is a very sad individual he honestly enjoys ridiculing his students. If at all possible future students avoid this person.

Last two comments were obviously put on by Clauss himself to try to rebut.....he's horrible, avoid if you can. There are a few other instructors in this are who are much more knowledgeable, and are worthwhile. Take them instead.

Dave really knows what he's talking about. He's not going to put up with any bs from students. Stays unbiased and teaches the materials well. This class (IT1020) could easily be done distance learning. Tests are straight out of the book.

Not sure why they have him. It's essentially an online class (with a few simple labs), except you have to take it in a classroom. Couldn't decide if Clauss didn't want to help some students or didn't know his stuff. Clauss is intelligent, but I think his condescending attitude is a cover up for not having kept up with current technology.

David Clauss is not for all. He is sarcastic and has a little bit of a superiority complex. I was already mostly familiar with the content of this class, so I was able to avoid interacting with him to much. I can't recommend this instructor for those that are just starting to learn about computers. Intermediate and beyond should be ok.

honestly David is a good guy - he is smart and knows what he is doing when it comes to the IT world - some people thinks he is mean when he doesn't give them straight answers but really he is trying to make them figure it out for themselves and not just handing them the information - you dont learn by being handed everything you need to work for it

Found the class was good and the teacher taught the material well. He is not for everyone and if you have no IT background and just got out of IT1010 then do not take his class unless you had some networking and computer training. Some of my classmates had a hard time with him and so study next time.

I had Dave for 1415 and 1680. The cool thing about his classes for me was he gave me the freedom to basically do what needed to be done. He gave the labs, and you do the labs. It was like work. I enjoyed taking his classes. I never was the "whipping boy" nor did I see anyone who was when I took him. Simply show up, so the work and u can pass easy.

Can get some information from his class. But he thinks he's god and he seems to have pleasure when other students struggle. Is a smart ass and makes u look like an idiot if you ask certain questions. It looked like he went out of his way one class period to make me look stupid in front of the class. Avoid him if you can!!!

He is a knowledgeable instructor. The thing I liked most about his class was how he insults students lack of knowledge and how he locks students out of the class for being a minute late. It's pretty funny when it doesn't happen to you. Otherwise, beware.
