I love Dr. Downing. He has a very crazy sense of humor and he is a really fun professor. He really knows his stuff and gives good feedback on papers. If you care about his class and work hard you'll be fine. If you don't take things seriously and slack off, you won't get off easy.

Dr. Downing is an amazing professor. I just had him this past semester and I would recommend him to anyone. I am an English major so I have interest in the subject but he makes the class enjoyable. He is always there to help if you need it and he is not that strict when it comes to writing assignments. Anyone can get an A as long as they try.

Hilarious! I enjoy going to class...except for when he makes us sit at the computer and do exercises for wayyy too long. You have to work for an A, but it's definitely possible (I hope!). I recommend him!

Had Dr. D for many classes in the major; great writer, knows how to make things pithy and catching...also interested in the alumni and in career placement for current students. Make him your friend and it'll take you far. Classes were always fun and didn't realize how important the books were until after I graduated.

He is so funny! Totally cracks me up on a daily basis. Willing to help his students in any way. Very good with getting papers back quickly... not always as punctual for class though hehe. Definitely my favorite profession in the English department!!!
