Maybe he should spend less time pretending to be J.D. Salinger and spend a bit more time helping his students find their own passion and voice rather than try to force his upon them. Encourages experimental form over good storytelling, and bashes anyone with an interest in writing genre with no good explanation. All in all, the worst writing professor I had during my time at Pitt. He fears the vampire terrorist penguins.

Great guy and without a doubt one of the best teachers in the Wrt.Dept. Of course he's self absorbed- he's a writer. If you're looking for selfless teachers, try Nursing. Nice looking, but I don't think I'd have his babies- they'd suck at football.
