very rule oriented but if you do everything he says you can leave the class with 105. extra perks for attendence. you will be glad later in your academic career that you took him when you get 100's on your papers in other classes even if he is a stickler for rules. stay on top of your research paper too or he will fail you!

Hicks is a wonderful professor. He offered so many opportunities to improve your grade and your understanding of the material. He was helpful on a personal basis and seems eager to answer your questions. I never once had a pop quiz and the final was very clear and relatively easy. He allows you to revise all of your papers! A "B" can still get an A

dont let these prior comments fool you, you will be glad later in your college career that you took his class! do all that he asks, he lays out exactly how he grades if you just pay attention! gives extra credit for perfect attendance too. ask for help, he loves that.

He is a great professor. I enjoyed the class. He is sometimes hard, but if you do what he wants, you will not have problems. I received “A†easy for the ENC 1101; also, his class goes quick and there is not a lot for homework. I do not know what those people talking about “pop-quizzes,†we did not have any. Great professor!!!

I don't understand how this kind of professor can teach at college level. He is VERY unclear, unhelpfull, forgetfull and a difficult person.Even if you do your homework, he'll give you a pop quiz or will test you on details making it impossible to get a good grade. I have straight A's and B's in all my classes and I had to drop his class.

He's unclear with his assignments at times, but he is very good at teaching how to write academically. i take ENC 1102 now and i get A's in how i write. he does wander off the subject sometimes. follow his directions and do the revisions. they'll help your grade!

Also talked down to some of the students as if they were very dumb and he was some almighty god! Way too much work for a compostion 1 class..his teaching was all over the place.. bad

I dreaded each class. he is very biased in his opinions making you afraid to voice conflicting opinions. This is not a polictics class. His grading is fair and if you know anything about english you will do fine in the class as long as you follow directions. But overall opt. for a better teacher.
