Dr. J was one of the best teachers at The Fort. He saw himself as the gatekeeper of the integrity of the Biology program, and his charge was to weed out the weaklings who wouldn't represent the school well. He scared the crap out of many, and the failing rate was high. Even A-students took the class twice! But if you asked him for help, you got it!

No one will say his tests were easy but he pushed you to reach your potential...if you wanted to! As so many others say, a great sense of humor and a privilege to have as a teacher. Twenty years later, we still have great chats when I run into him at City Market when visiting Durango. A great guy.

He is very excited about his field and his enthusiasm translates over into his teaching. He does have difficult tests, but if you show his you are putting in the effort and that you care about what you are learning - that will go a long way. He has got a great sense of humor and is a wonderful guy!
