Probably my favorite history teacher I've ever had, but pretty tough tests. Gives extra credit assignments throughout the semester and allows you to rewrite essays. Don't buy the textbook, never used it once, if you're not good at remembering dates i would avoid this class

This teacher is very friendly and may be the smartest man I've ever met. He's more than willing to help his students, which you should take advantage of. The research paper is graded quite harshly (he allows redoes though) and the exams require an INCREDIBLE amount of studying. I was very pleased with my C+. Very hard, but very interesting.

Worst professor ever! Don't bother buying the book, his tests are based 100% on his lectures. He will not post his slides, and will exect you to basically have them all memorized for the test as well as details he provides through his lectures. He expects you to memorize arbitrary dates & details. I love European history but HATED his class.

Teaches 20th century Euro history strictly as it pertains to the world wars. If you aren't a specialist in military history, this class will bore you. (ex: size of guns used on unimportant battleships) He is also extremely obsessed with dates (approx 20% of tests). Work load is absurd- this is all coming from a grad student.

He gives you way too much to study. Don't bother even looking at the timeline; you'll get all the information you need on the test from his power points. He's a nice guy, but gives way to much to memorize. DON'T TAKE HIM DURING THE SUMMER!!! its way too much crammed in to too little time

Horrible class. Makes you memorize a ridiculous amount of dates for the final and only tests you on 10 of them. Going to class was not mandatory but he does not post lectures on BB so you would have to get the notes from another student. Never used the book once. Studied my butt off for the final just so I could get a C in the class.

This class is ridiculous. Don't take it unless you are amazing at memorization. Gives you a list of about 300 insignificant events and you have to fill in the date on the test (no wordbank). I don't know of any other class at FSU where you need to know what year the potato chip was invented...

This is the worst professor EVER and i really do mean it. The class is suppose to be about race and ethnicity yet, he just gives a bunch of notes on things that occured in time. His Test are ridiculous to pass, 100+ Dates &nd 100+ Terms to study for a 20 question test that you are most likely to get a c on or fail. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS.

I'm currently taking a break from the five days I've spent studying for his final. Here are two dates/examples of the 300+ I will be memorizing tonight: "the first displayed barbed wire in 1790;" "an unusual darkening of the daytime sky over New England" on May 19th, 1780. Nothing to do with race and ethnicity. Do not take this class. Waste of mone

This class was horrible. We focused on 100++ specific DATES per test & not concepts, culture, race, or ethnicity. It takes away from the actual subject we're supposed to be learning. The tests are impossible to study for unless you start weeks, & I mean WEEKS in advance. He is known to change term and date list a day or two before the test. Awful.

Dr. Raymond is one of those guys who likes to flaunt his knowledge. He knows A LOT about history, but his tests are impossibly difficult. Would NOT recommend taking his class. Also, he's super liberal.

I'm a history major and I hated this class with a passion. There was too much memorization rather than discussing the concepts. If you can memorize dates and names in excessive quantities.. GO FOR IT. If you would rather learn about culture and themes, take someone else!

Honestly, you don't have to read the book or attend the class, except on due dates for essays and test days. You can find all the information you need for the assignments on your own...don't buy the textbook. His lectures are very informational but I have a low attention span so for me they were boring. Not bad at all. Pretty good teaher!

His lectures are a pleasure to attend because he adds lots of interesting info to otherwise boring historical facts. He also shows lots of video clips which are always welcome. Also, he is very kind and approachable and cares about his students. I missed a lot of his classes because of my job, but I wish I could take this class with him again.

BORING lectures. and honestly, it didnt affect me when i didnt go to class. If i showed up a minute late to class i found myself becoming extremely lost..he talks real fast and its hard to catch everything he says...easy to prepare for midterm and final..papers arent horrible- and he offers rewrites. generally easy...stress level was low

He gives you 30 or so terms to study, 10 on the test, and 5 from those 10 to define with about a page for his tests. Papers are a little difficult, but can be rewritten many times to get an A. If you give it any effort at all, you can get an A. No one ever went, even though the lectures were interesting. You can buy the student notes.

Great Teacher! The lectures were pretty boring but he covers everything you need to know for the midterm/final and the papers. The midterm and final..he just gives you terms before hand and on the exam you write like a page about them. Also you can rewrite your papers as many times as you want until you are happy with your grade.
