If you need to take a 400 level course, take it with Ruth. He's the best professor on campus hands down. Very approachable and open minded. There is a lot of reading and a few short responses but grades them easily. He cares more about how you're going to back up your opinion and thoughts rather than citing the books.

Dr. Ruth is an excellent professor. He knows his material and facilitates great discussions. I have taken a few courses with him and have enjoyed them all. If you are taking History classes at Abington you really should try to take some with Dr. Ruth.

He does expect you to read outside of class as well as understand and write short papers. However, there isn't any right or wrong answer to the homework. He's looking for you to back up your points by drawing from the documents given. If you're worried about the amount of homework given, don't be. The class is an easy A if you just do the material.

Let me just start off by saying, History major or not, Ruth is one of the best teachers to take a history course with. Especially when it comes to History 21, he makes learning the material pretty interesting (compared to other teachers). He's very understanding and friendly when approached. If you have to decide between two professors, take Ruth.

the class is bored, but you really can learn something from him. 4 exams, give you key term and allow to bring a index card, are easy if you read book or google the key items. documents every week, give you bonus if you particiate in class discussion. he is nice guy and help a lot if you ask him any questions.

Top history professor at abington. Anyone who has relevant interests in history will be fine. Do the article reaction papers, tests are bluebook and simple. May not be the most exciting class but he is very helpful and encourages students to share their thoughts. Would definitely recommend to anyone to take this professor

I took Dr. Ruth for five classes and enjoyed them all! Great teacher, very helpful and knowledegable. Show up for class (be on time) and take notes and you will get A.

He's a really nice guy, and anywhere outside of the classroom I would enjoy him. But he is unclear, a tough grader, and is one of those teachers who dont understand that a student has other classes to deal with. Makes you read books down to the wire that have nothing to do with your important research paper. Easier than august but still annoying.

Great professor, easy class. He allows you to use 1 index card for all the tests and the final, so that's really helpful. You have to read before the exam plus a review sheet is given so thats not bad.

Fabulous professor! There is a lot of read and the tests are essay-based but is an upper-level history class, what do you expect? Delved into aspects of the time period that aren't often studied which was refreshing. Highly highly recommend!

He's a cute teacher, but very boring class. TOO MUCH READINGS. One assignment every week. 10+pages. TESTS! NEED A LOT A LOT OF MEMORIZATION.(Index card is not helpful) TOO MUCH WORK. lecture is so boring. If you really like History, take it. lean a lot. if you don't like history. Well.....find another way out

One of my favorite teachers. He is very nice and helps you if you need it. You have to go to class though and take good notes. If you study and make your study cards you should get a good grade on he tests. Don't let the blue books scare you, it's very easy.
