Schlow was the man. Down to earth (especially for an old guy) and got to the point when teaching. Also oddly funny at times and related stuff to real life. Easy if you study and even if you don't and just attend lecture you could probably still get a good grade.

Comment:

Hilarious, very knowledgeable professor. Tests were based heavily off the notes/in-class problems that he did on the overhead. It was easy to make errors on the tests if one wasn't careful enough. I studied the notes, went to his review sessions, and did fine. He did leave in April for medical treatment. I hope he's doing well and will return soon!

I took two of his classes and learned from the first one - take notes! He admits not liking the text books and says he'll teach from his notes - which he does. He doesn't care if you leave early or skip class - but BEWARE you'll need his notes! Yes some dry jokes, but Econ is boring anyhow. Just pay attention he knows what he's talking about.

I hate to rate him poorly, because I'm sure he's a nice guy. Schlow was the worst professor I've encountered so far. Whoever commends his jokes skipped the class. When he taught the first part of the semester I received C+s on tests. When the sub taught, I got an A on the final (which saved my grade). Don't waste your time or your parents' paycheck

I agree that he was pretty funny, but the notes he wrote on the overhead were so vague, if you missed a point there was no going back. Tests were harder than one would think they'd be. I had a hard time staying awake sometimes, and I think he did as well.

Schlow is a whacky guy who tells irrelevant stories for the first 10 minutes of class, moves around really slowly, and doesn't seem to enjoy teaching the class. Tests are nothing like his lectures nor are they like what is in the book, so it is hard to know what to expect. Schlow is undergoing chemotherapy now, so wish him the best.

I don't think that he took the class seriously. The lectures seemed to drag on sometimes. He was a very funny professor but unfortunately the exams were not easy at all. The class project was a life saver. We got a new teacher for this semester who made life much easier by offering a 15 point curve for the second exam--hard exams from Schlow!!

AWESOME!! I love this guy sooo much. He is probably one of the funniest professors ever. He is also a very good teacher, makes econ. esay to understnd. No homework, have to go to class to get notes, but don't have to buy the text book binder thing. LOVE HIM!

I can't believe all the positive reviews for this guy. The teaching is horrible and it is impossible to follow along with everyone around you not paying attention. You don't have to come to class, but the tests are like riddles and though i went to every class nothing helped. Bottom line: you're on your own; only the strong survive

Schlow is awesome. Both of the LIR classes I took with him (100 and 400) were ridiculously easy and I actually learned something. I also took Econ 315 with him and although it wasn't easy, I'm glad it was with him vs. anyone else. He's hilarious and completely irreverent. Take any classes you can with him!

The crazy comments about this guy are true, even the quotes up top. Very boring class, he knows it and says so himself. The book nonsense is true and this dude really should be known as "The Schlow"...just look at him. He's kinda funny at times - cooky grandfather humor, but yea, he rambles all the time -takes away from teaching.
