I loved thermal fluids with him. The tests were always a good measure of what was learned. The homework took a while sometimes but it was not dull so I actually enjoyed it. He does a great job of teaching this class overall.

Horrible. This was a one credit lab to accompany EGR 330. Do not schedule a class with this professor unless absolutely necessary. Will give you deadlines and not meet his own deadlines for grading. The only reason he teaches at Geneva College is because nobody else wanted him and he can't make it in the real workforce.

Dr. Shaw is one of the most dislike professors on campus, the poor guy. He' actually good at teaching the course material, despite what many people claim, but his lectures can be rough. But once you adjust to the speed at which he flies through material and you get past his corny jokes, he's really not as bad as he's cracked up to be.

While Dr. Shaw is tough, and his habits concerning formatting can sometimes be trying, He really cares about his students, and when asked for it, almost always gives helpful homework assistance and feedback. He wants his students to succeed, but leaves it up to them to do so, and guides them, but does not walk them though course material.

Comment:
Outside of class, Dr. Shaw is a nice person and can be relatively helpful. However, I could not recommend anyone take his class. His exams are unreasonably long and his homework is even worse. Eve if you get all of the answers correct on the homework, prepare for a C at best because of tedious rubbish. Labs are also graded unnecessarily harshly.

Too many obscure and what the heck assignments that it always left the class so confused and hopeless. Assignments were just given out with no real way to know how to correctly accomplish them and then graded with an iron fist as if all of the details were perfectly clear. The good part is he usually allows teamwork. Very smart and cheery guy.

He is obviously a very smart man, but he seemed unprepared for EGR 101 lectures. They say EGR 101 is a class to weed out the weak students from engineering and I understand why after taking the course. He grades reports and assignments really tough throughout the semester to push students. Feedback is very specific but usually given late.

Professor Shaw does not inspire students to pay attention. His classes are full of students playing computer games because he cannot lecture well at all.

Dr Shaw is impossible. He rambles through his lectures laughing the whole time at his own jokes that no one understands. Everything I learned in the class I have had to teach myself. His exams are unrealistic for the time allowed. He grades so harshly, very unforgiving. Ill change my concentration before I take another class with the man.

Shaw is dry and kind of rambles during his lectures. It's hard to stay awake sometimes in his class. When you ask a question he seems to try and make you ind out how to answer it yourself. This can be good, but in his case it generally just leaves you as confused as you were before. His classes take a lot of work and he is a very tough grader (OCD)

If you don't put in the effort for the class you will HATE him. He requires you work hard, and if you apply yourself you will do fine. A bit hard to understand sometimes, but ask him after class and he will explain it to you again crystal clear

Once you get past EGR101, Dr. Shaw is a pretty good classroom professor and gives relevant homework. The main problem is that he is bad at course administration, so for example, you will get lots of very helpful, specific feedback on your lab reports, but you won't get it for weeks so you will get bad grades for the same issues in the meantime.

The entire course needs to be learned out of the book. Tests are impossible class average was about 50%. He will ramble on about the simple things that everyone knows but skip over anything important or new. Test questions ask students to find something that has not be taught until after the test.

He is willing to answer questions if you can actually find him, but he tends to make himself unavailable. If you ask him something, he will ramble on about the subject and never arrive at a clear answer. His lecture style is to make the topic more confusing rather than clarify it. His tests are impossible to finish for all but the best students.

He Is the most useless professor I have. He is not just tough, He is completely ridiculous. The "study-tests" were completely useless, and his questions on the test did not relate to what he actually wanted. -- BTW, he HOMESCHOOL'S His kids!!! How??? He is completely worthless and does not know how to run or teach a class. My little brother could teach this class better. He gives practice tests that have nothing to do with the actual test at all.
