Exams are tough, but fair. His study guides are in depth and almost all of it gets covered on the exam. However, study guides are LONG (100 terms each) and can be VAGUE. Takes attendance. Lectures are boring. He's a bit scatterbrained (pun intended). As long as you review the slides and do the study guides, bring other work to do during lecture.

Professor Somers is funny and a great lecturer. His tests are very fair, and if you go to lecture and review your notes you'll be fine. The class covered a lot of interesting topics and I learned a lot.

This class was subject was so interesting, but he tends to give long lectures that put you to sleep. Also his test are definitely on the harder side and he is very big in to memorizing. You need to study for the exams, but they're at least multiple choice and tend to follow his study guides (which are about 100 terms on average).

The subject for the class was pretty boring but Prof Somers is great. He looses his train of though a lot but discussions with Deepti are amazing and the tests are not hard if you study. If you go to lectures and read the books, know the graphs and figures, you could easily get a B

His tests are long (60 multi choice questions), and they are tricky. I thought I knew everything for the exam, but I ended up doing poorly on all of them. The questions are worded strangely, and you DO need to know the brain regions, no matter how much he says you don't need to! The final exam ruined my grade. Brought me down from a B+ to a C+.

Not the easiest class ever like many comments would lead you to believe. It also isn't the hardest class ever. The only hard part about exams are all the different brain regions you have to memorize. Always scales tests which are usually in the C+ range to an 85. Quizzes and discussion help. You end up doing a lot better than you thought.

Do not take this class assuming it is easy, because it definitely isn't. The exam questions are pretty tricky and averages are usually around a B-. He does scale up. Other grades like discussion and anatomy quizzes do help your grade out.

Great professor! He seems very down to Earth, which makes learning more relaxing/easier. He explains things very well and relates them to the real world to help students understand the topics. Super helpful and I recommend taking his classes!

Smart man. Very helpful during office hours too and helps you how ever he can to make sure you understand the material. Lecture slides are provided to facilitate notetaking. Grading is generous. Scales every exam, so you usually get 1-3 points higher if you score 90+. Note that the cutoff for an A as a semester grade is a 94, not 93, due to this.

Exams were tricky, but all questions came from the study guide, which is all the lecture slides. No need to buy the textbook or attend lecture if you pay attention to the slides. Essays are graded easily. Curve on each exam. However, he does let out students late always and rushes near the end of lectures. Email for office hours. Responds to emails

Somers is a really brilliant guy and great to talk to during office hours. I highly recommend taking any course he teaches. Having said that, NE202 is the most boring course in the universe, its unfortunate there is no way around it for neuro majors.

The material is really interesting and if you memorize the slides (focusing on anatomy) you're golden for the tests. Only problem is Somers is so incredibly monotone I can barely sit through his class. The room was packed (ppl sitting on the stairs) the first day and by the end of the semester... half the seats empty because lecture is so useless.

This is the class to take if you want an easy A. For every exam, I started a day before and just reviewed the powerpoints and got in the high A range every time. Don't need the book at all! Great professor, but don't need to go to class since the sign in sheet isn't part of your grade - just for the psych department. All questions come from slides.

Very nice and intelligent guy. Always kept lecture interesting and most of his exam questions came directly from the powerpoints which he provides on blackboard. He almost always related the material to something more easy to relate to. I learned a lot!

He's easy but waste of time. In lecture he reads off the slides, but requires you to attend with a sign in sheet. He does lots of demos, but neglects to explain them. He never lets you leave on time. He averaged 3 minutes late, which sucks if you have a class to get to. Tests are easy, but I found myself hating this class.

Great class to take for the requirement, sometimes the material was dry but Somers did an excellent job of using real-life examples to get the concepts across. Whenever I would study, his examples would stick in my head. If you study his slides, it's pretty easy to get a B+, but his questions are tricky enough that it's not too easy to get an A.

Hes kinda goofy, kinda large and kinda shy but hes awesome. Somers is the nicest teacher I have ran into at BU and during office hours not only did he go over my test with me, but he asked me how I studied for it and suggested how to study better. He is honestly very thoughtful and brilliant even though it might not show when he speaks.

Great professor. Uses lots of real-life examples to keep students engaged. The course is challenging, but his tests aren't bad if you do all/most of the readings. Sends around a sign in sheet every class (attendance=10%). CogLabs=20% and they're super easy (no write/wrong answers, just do them and you get full credit). Essays aren't graded hard :-)
