There are a lot of quizzes and if you don't listen in class, you won't do well. However, the tests have most of the questions from the quizzes on it. He gives extra credit for each exam (3 exams). His lecture is the most boring thing I have ever sat through, but it is mandatory to go. So bring some homework from another class, or a game.

Dr. Steffy is a great guy. His class though, a bit on the boring side. He jumps around a lot and doesn't explain things very clearly. Sit at the front, he's incredibly quiet. Read the book, view the powerpoints, and you're fine.

He is a sweet old man but if you do not sit in the front row you can not hear him. He puts the textbook powerpoint up on the TVs and then goes off on a tangent that may or may not relate to the powerpoint. The tests have little to do with what he went over and heaven forbid he has to revise them. Because he won't. Study guides makes no sense.

There are a lot of really easy quizzes and tests you have to take on Pearson Mastering Environmental Science. We also wrote a paper on fracking. Really easy class!

I took Historical Geology online and did not enjoy it. Dr Steffy took weeks to grade assignments and to respond to emails. Dr Steffy told us that he was spending a lot of time in the field. This made me think that he was more concerned with his own personal projects than this students. Expect to be completely on your own when taking this class.

Hard class. He does not explain things very well. His final wasnt comprehensive and I studied the 3 chapters he said would be on the final off the notes on Bb but hardly any of them were on the final.

Dr. Steffy has a very dry sense of humor and loves rocks. There is a 10 question quiz at the end of each chapter that will either help you or hurt you. If he repeats something 3 times in class, it's on the quiz. It's a very borig class and reads his notes off of an old school projector. Go to class for bonus points and stay the full time!

Dr. Steffy loves Geology. Do not waste money on the book. His notes are in the course reserves of the library online. Print them and save money. Attendance is not required,but helpful to gain Bonus Assignments. Tests are on scantrons. Drink coffee before class, can be boring. Overall,good info.and dry but funny sense of humor. (NO CELL PHONES!!!)

If you don't mind a teacher reading off of an overhead you'll be okay. Never opened the book. He posts his notes online....exactly what is on overhead. He expects you to make notes on his notes which look like chicken scratch. Print the notes offline! Goes too fast to write it all down.

Dr. Steffy is a great instructor. He gave 6 quizzes & 3 tests. He puts all of the notes online. If you go to class you will do fine. The material was surprisingly interesting, also. DO NOT spend your $ on a book- you won't need it.

Dr. Steffy, He's a very nice man, will help anyway he can. Makes class fun with his examples to try and help you understand material. Better be there to take notes!! Test will come right out of notes or books.
