Get ready to teach yourself the entire course. I would recommend either A) taking any other professor or B) not listening to lectures (confusing) and teaching yourself from the textbook. He's a nice guy, but he learned this stuff so long ago that he can't present it to people learning it the first time. Practice tests are incredibly helpful though.

Tough grader because he's too particular. Not my favourite class. Lectures seem like they go on forever and that's the extent of the class. Very intelligent but bad teacher.

Comment:
Most boring classes I've ever taken. Not even physics, history class with science base. Barely can stay awake in the long as hell lectures. Lectures feel like 2 hours and has only been 20 minutes. Bad at relaying information. Can't understand what in the world is going on in lectures.

A very intelligent professor, yep he looks like Einstein and acts like him. His lecture is only helpful if you have done your reading&homework, his thoughts are jumpy and fast, if you are good at physics he can be great to talk to and inspirational. If you are not so good at physics you will probably have a hard time following him. Super easy tests

I took Physics for non-science majors. Nice guy. If you need help he will help you! But he doesn't respond to emails often....also you will sit in his class and not understand one thing he says.

great guy, really funny, always wants to help and answer questions... however, not the greatest teacher, he's a typical absent minded professor, einstein intelligence but not so great at passing it on...only does quizes and tests. drops 2 lowest quizes. and drops one of the 3 tests or your quiz average...

Smart guy, but useless teacher. His tests are 4 problems and his entire lecture is deriving formulas using advanced math. He explains nothing about physics in a comprehensible way. Also, his tests are hard as hell. Prepare to die.

Comment:
Funny and quirky enough to keep the class interesting despite endless equation-writing and manipulations. Very sloppy handwriting; learn to interpret it quickly or suffer constant confusion. Use the book liberally to supplement lectures, but also use him; he's very willing to go over things multiple times to ensure clarity. Great professor.

I had David Turner for many physics classes in the late 70's. He was terrific and seemed to know EVERYTHING! He inspired me to go on to earn a Ph.D. One of the best profs I ever had at Furman (or anywhere else, for that matter.) Funny as hell too!

Typical absent-minded prof, but a great guy. Hard to follow and had a tendency to fill the board with variables and equations in a "non-major" class even when we were never tested on it. Fill out the answers to the study questions, ask for any answers you don't know, and you'll be fine.

Difficult to follow in class, but he tries to make it interesting. Gives TONS of partial credit. His partial credit will save you. I didn't answer a single question fully the whole term and still wound up with a B. Very helpful in conferences. Nice guy.You kinda have to teach yourself the material, but it's not impossible.

Awesome lectures. You will know more about the Cold War than you would think is possible for a physics class. Be sure to ask questions if you are confused. Plenty of opportunities to succeed (quizes).

He isnt too clear or organized, but his quizzes and final weren't bad at all. Some of the tests are challenging, but that is mostly because he isn't good at conveying the material. I had to get someone who had already taken the course to actually teach it to me. Smart but just an ok teacher.

OK...If you are not a physics major, you don't have to put up with him! In most PHY11 classes you DON'T have to memorize formulas, but he makes you. Believe it or not it makes the class 10 times harder.

material is very hard to comprehend in class, but he is excellent with his students out of class-- very devoted to teaching and willing to help his students learn in any way possible-- i wouldn't have taken anyone else!!

Lectures are rambling and make no sense, tests cover like 7 chapters and then he only focuses on like 2 points on the test. Not very approachable and sends across those crazy scientist vibes.
