He is one of my favorite professors, you do need to read a lot but like the class is so much fun. He loves music and incorporates it into the class. The papers are not very hard but he does grade hard, but its all worth it bc he prepares you for other classes. Overall if you need english try to get him because you wont regret it. #ILoveThisClass

He is a really great professor. He does have homework due everyday, but it only take about 10 minutes to complete. You have to be in class to turn you homework in. He doesn't grade papers too tough.

So attendance doesnt matter, but quizzes everyday and performances on Friday. Ridiculous length for papers that could easily be answered in a simple paragraph or two. Be prepared to fluff your papers. Throws religion into anything he can (he also teaches a course). Very dry, thinks hes cool and is one prof I would avoid at all costs.

Really though grader and not the most understanding teacher when it comes to grades. His class was chill and he doesn't take attendance but has stuff due every class so you basically have to go all the time. No final but a lot of essays that can be hard.

Okamura is an inspirational professor who loves to talk both in class and during office hours about the material. Easily one of my favorites; HOWEVER, do NOT let him catch you on your phone. Those who say Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned have obviously never seen this Virgilian professor call out a student who is texting. Heads will roll.

Sometimes his concepts seem a little abstract. When talking about Shakespeare, be prepared not to pay any attention to literary techniques. Instead, he'll talk about overarching concepts. Attendance isn't taken, but if you don't show up you miss daily quizzes. Grading rubrics are clear. He expects a lot, but not the impossible.

His Class was great, I did enjoy being in the course. I learned quite a bit about classics, BUT it was way too much work for the class. During the course of the class we read through 5 classics (odyssey, aeneid, inferno, purgatorio, and paradiso), and with that we wrote a total of 7 papers, which cannot be started until 3 days before it is due.

Really great teacher. Expect to act out stuff from the reading for a grade, write a few papers and answer a short reading quiz every class. I loved how I knew exactly what to expect at all times in this class. Nothing is vague. The only really difficult thing was memorizing a Shakespeare speech, but he grades leniently on it. Nice and quirky guy.

Dr. Wilson-Okamura is one of my favorite professors at ECU. I took him for two Shakespeare classes and Classics from Homer to Dante. All of those classes have a daily reading quiz, so you have to go to class. I was never that interested in literature courses before, but he teaches them in a way that keeps you interested and makes you think.

Dr. Wilson-Okamura is a great professor. He really understands what he talks about and has a great passion for his subject matter. He is a bit soft spoken, so pay attention. There are quizzes everyday, so do the reading. His class is very demanding, so expect a big work load if you take him. I would say its worth it in the end.

Very demanding class. I took with 5 other classes and almost pulled my hair out everyday. Reading assignments/quiz due everyday but if you do the readings, the quizzes are easy. 2-3 1500-2000 word papers. If you're taking 12 hours this semester, he's great...anymore than that? Find someone else.

If you don't like being challenged, motivated, and inspired to further examine literature, don't take him. If you do what you are suppose to do such as, show up to class, take notes, and write short papers, you will pass. He is good at helping you develop critical thinking skills, which is great skill to have.

He is one of my favorite professors. He has a reading quiz just about every day, so you need to go to class. You're required to do two staged readings and two recitations, he gives you three papers, but you don't have to do a midterm or final!

Amazing professor. He is a hard grader, but explains what he wants thoroughly. It is a lot of reading, and quizzes almost every day, but no midterms or final exams, only a paper every other week.

I've taken Dr. Wilson-Okamura every semester since Spring 08 and I'm taking him yet again in the fall for Homer to Dante. He is a brilliant professor. There is a lot of reading involved, but this is college! If you expect to slide by with easy classes that require little to no thinking then go to the Communications department.
