Took stochastic with Professor Wolfson in Winter 2017. He is great. Exactly what a professor should be. He actually teaches the material, and chooses his assignment questions wisely so that you can actually learn. Not super easy, nor overly difficult. Also is very kind and up to just discussing life in general and your future. Take him!

Professor Wolfson was great! Seems to explain concepts more qualitatively than other math professors which is really nice and easier to understand. Probability can be very tricky but Prof Wolfson makes understanding it simple.

Amazing professor! Super clear lectures and notes (the textbook was optional). Also very responsive to student questions and emails. Overall a very pleasant experience. Easy assignments and straightforward midterm but a challenging final exam (though it ended up being generously scaled). Likes to test proofs so make sure to go over your notes!

Dr. Wolfson is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. One of the best prof of Mathematics I've ever had the pleasure of working with thus far. Crystal clear lectures, always available outside of class, approachable, patient, humorous and pleasant to listen to. His notes are amazing; but he tends to be proof-focused, so keep that in mind.

Simply amazing. Literally best prof I've ever had. He doesn't follow the textbook at all so you have to show up to class, but his notes are very thorough and clear. He really doesn't overcomplicate things and is very clear about what to expect on exams. Easy midterm but hard final. Would 100% suggest taking 323 with Wolfson. Such a gem

David Wolfson, what do I say about him. They say his teaching techniques are insured for $10,000. Jokes aside, a gold standard professor. Incredibly caring. He JUST HAS A WAY of teaching that is so darn effective. I genuinely learned so much, without feeling like my head is going to explode. Bonus: He's like a funny and adorable teddy bear :')

I'm awful at math but needed to take stats and he made the class very enjoyable and user-friendly. If you're bad at math and need the class take him. Good at explaining, very detailed examples, clear, and tells you exactly what to know. Regular assignments help you see how you're doing. Midterm and final were very fair. No surprises.

A very good prof, he cares a lot about his students, always here to answers students' mails. Even though the course can be challenging in terms of proofs, especially the post-midterm material, you can still get an A. It is mandatory to attend the lectures. Also, the textbook is very useful when it comes to practice exercises! Good luck everyone!

one of the better math profs at mcgill. course itself can be challenging, though most complain because they don't attend the lectures.

Everything was fine in this class until it got to the final. Prof Wolfson was good in class, and explained things well. His final was 60% memorizing proofs from class, 10% doing new proofs, and 30% actual probability work. Probability should be an applied class, not a memorization class. AVOID IF TAKING PROBABILITY.
