Comment:
Dr. Wood is very friendly and teaches with an old world style. He expects students to make their OWN conclusions, which can at times make the course difficult and unclear (especially when he makes mistakes in problem sets). In the end the material is completely manageable for those able to to perform open analysis. A's arent supposed to be easy.

Not a good teacher and he's tough. People say functional is the hardest class in major; this for me was definitely the hardest. Grades stringently and inconsistently, and he's just a mediocre teacher who keeps dry topics dry. He is nice and willing to help outside of class which is his one strength but I would recommend other prof for neurophys

Such a dull and boring class. His grading is very tough, easily able to lose points for small mistakes. When the tests are out of 40, it's a big deal. Vague teaching style, does have a good personality though. Do not recommend him.

Vague test questions. Never know what he wants for fill-in-the-blank. Asks specific questions you'd never expect, ex. intracellular conc of Ca2+. Not sure what to think.

Most boring class EVER! Book was optional and even though you have to schedule a recitation it's optional too. Fill in the blank tests (including the final). Not too hard but really really boring.

As of Fall 2006- The class itself is not that bad, but the problem sets are hard, and to make it worse, he's always a b---- on grading them. Seriously. If you don't write the correct wording he takes off points. Tests are like the PSes but they aren't bad. He teaches well but his grading is absolutely terrible, horrible, nasty, crappy, etc...

It is clear that he knows what he is teaching, but he doesn't break things down very well. The majority of the lectire is him giving examples and making YOU draw the conclusions on the homework...youre wrong? too bad, i guess that'll hurt your grade! The built in curve is pretty amazing though.

Excellent professor. Very helpful. Exams and assignments are designed to develop and evaluate one's analytical skills. Mere regurgitation will not yield you success in this course.

As long as you do the homework problems and understand them, you'll do well on the tests. Go to class everyday and take the note and you're garunteed at least a B (there's a built in curve). Way easier than the other section (w/Striker).

Sample problems and problem sets were hard, but they were almost the exact test questions. So if you do well on the problem sets, you'll do well on his tests. Great teacher who has a way of breaking down complex material into easy to understand explanations. And his curve isn't too bad either!

He is able to teach really hard material and bring it down to a level that anyone can understand. This may make the class seem boring at first, but you leave class realizing how much you've learned in a single lecture. He's very fair and is always willing to help students. He's a great professor.
