She has in insane philosophy and is teaching the class like a group effort and puts way to much value on student input. The whole class she did one whole proof all the way through. When we ask questions she doesn't answer but tries getting us to discover the way, which as a class we can't do because she never taught the basics and skips around.

I would avoid at all costs. Her famous quote in class to students was, "I don't know, you tell me." Look I am somewhat older now and the way I look at college is different. I am paying to learn and they are getting paid to teach me; not paying to have mind games played on me. That is why I believe we need to end tenure. She had a horrible attitude.

I took her for Math 345 and she would just not help the students. I have since taken numerous classes elsewhere since graduating from CSUSB. I find that professors that play these little games have issues. Any instructor should teach you basic techniques in these classes instead of just going over the book. I avoided here afterward.

She is brilliant, has very high standards for students. She actually expects students to work and learn, not just show up. High level math classes are challenging for most people because they may lack some skills, she was generous with her time and energy for anyone who wanted to learn....but she expects people to WORK.

I had Dr. Fischman for Transformation Geometry and I think she was one of the best teachers I've had at CSUSB. She gave us handouts, group assignments, extra credit, constructions... She is very helpful when you have questions, although at times she might be alittle intimidating to ask, but you have to ask questions if you don't understand. =)

First of all I highly disagree that liberal arts students are not intellectuals, that was a very rude comment. Prof. Fischman is a hard teacher but you will learn SO much from her. If you are in college to have an easy ride then don't take her, but if you seriously want to learn how to teach math then you'll take her. She is always willing to help.

In response to the previous rate comment of liberal studies, I am highly ofended by your comment, because I've always been an A math student and I've taken math courses up to Calculus. Just because she teaches well high level courses doesn't mean she knows how to teach future teachers. I recomend you take her 301c course and see for yourself

In all of my three years of college I've NEVER encountered a porfessor as bad as her. She doesn't fully explain problems, she has an attitude, she's rude when you ask for help. She wants to teach so much that instead of skipping certain things like most professor she will cram them in to your brain whether you understand it or not.

Dr. Fischman was one of the best math teachers I've had. She was tough, no doubt, but she was a very clear explainer, her homework always prepared you for the tests and her attitude encouraged people to participate instead of just taking dictation. A couple of the reviewers said she was baised against males; I'm a male and she showed no such bias.

Devita is by far the worst teacher I have ever taken! She is bias toward male students and also rude. She is very inconsistent and not a good grader. If you go to her office for help, she helps you but the next day the same proof is different. like I said, she is very inconsistent. Don't take her.
