I'm surprised by the negative reviews. Davis was my favorite professor at COA. He gave good lectures and put a lot of time into teaching. I really respected him as an economist, teacher and person.

maybe davis has changed in the years since i had him at coa (~2000), 'cause i thought he was great! i learned a lot about econ and really enjoyed the *discussions*! one of my fav profs. and my classmates really enjoyed the stuff, too. feel free to ignore these weirdos who didn't like him and thought it was too easy: challenging if you let it be!

Literally learned nothing no matter how much extra work I did. Got decent grade, but worst grade of the trimester, even though my mother classes were far more challenging. Hes the entire econ. dept and with a phd in economics, his lack of knowledge and skill will amaze you.

Davis is one of the most controversial teachers at COA. His wealth of knowledge is commendable but he sometimes has trouble communicating. He will often read from his notes and class discussions can be elementary. He will choose interesting readings, but they may be vaguely related to the course. He grades well, and does make you think - OK overall

Davis wrote that I didn't understand Human Ecology AT ALL. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but telling a first semester freshman that they don't understand the very concept that they are there to explore is unneccesary and unprofessional...especially when the student is trying their hardest.
