I think the biggest catchwords for this professor are -nascent dementia- I would also say arsch hole, but that already describes 65% of professors.

Harper is a disgrace to teaching and professorship, and I wonder why he is still even at this University. His tests are arbitrary, and while the book selection will let you know everything he wants you to learn in class, he treats his subject matter like the wonderful world of Harper's opinions. I would not take another class of his if you paid me.

Harper is a really nice guy, really funny, but the worst teacher I have EVER had. I didn't learn a single thing, and I'm not exaggerating. You never know what will be on tests, and everyone does terribly. We had 3 tests- on one of them, the class average was a 55, if that gives you an idea. Class is boring beyond belief and the workload is too much

No textbooks are used which makes it extremely hard to follow along with the professor. Learned nothing from the class. First week of HLS 116 taught me everything I learned from Harper. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS

The first test had questions about the syllabus on it. The tests tend to be hard and you can never really be sure what grade you're going to get. He is always willing to meet with you but, having done that myself, I did not find it very helpful. No textbook, and the books used can be really boring and hard to get through.

He's a good guy, personable with the students. Tests are difficult. Grading style makes a good grade definitely possible.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! He makes it sound as if the class would be an easy A but then he piles on the work and comes up with the most difficult questions on the exams. To top that all off, he doesn't teach you anything in the class and there is no textbook to learn from either so pretty much you're really screwed on the test no matter what.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Don't do it. There's a lot off bulls hit about how he gives As at the end of the semester: NOT TRUE. It WILL kill your GPA. HE is a sweet old man but you will waste your time, learn nothing, and get a horrible grade. Frankly, the man is a terrible professor and should be fired immediately.

Such a nice guy. Awkward at times but means well. Isn't very clear about...well, anything. Hard to know how he grades, but from what it seems like, he doesn't hesitate to give A's at the end of the semester. Classes can be boring, although he does come out with some ludicrous comments during class that are good for a laugh. Overall, good professor.

He's a sweet man, very absent-minded professor type. I didn't really learn a lot but he loves to teach. He wants students to do well, doesn't care too much about grading, and was the only prof I've had that has given out his home phone number and encouraged students to call for help.
