The lectures are boring. I took her as a TXA Student and it was hard. She makes you read documents that are lengthy. The quizzes are all online however it requires that you read the documents (5 questions, only 5 minutes) Test study guide are not good. The test require you to do like 25 questions and an essay. Wouldnt recommend her.

Dr. Blackwell is the definition of a true professor who cares that her students learn. She is an amazing speaker and makes her lectures very interesting. Take GOOD NOTES AND STUDY AHEAD OF TIME FOR THE TESTS. She expects well written essays for the tests. INTEGRATE THE DOCUMENTS SHE GIVES AND THE LECTURE DETAILS!

In order to obtain a grade you desire, a lot of work and effort is needed to do so. Class work takes time, don't take while you are in more than five maybe even four classes; if so it might be possible to fall behind in classes.

Honestly, I never read any of the documents and I missed the last three weeks of class. When it came time for the final exam it was a lot easier than expected. You don't really need to read the documents after her second exam. Her tests are pretty tough and she likes to use "NOT" in her tests.

She is a really good professor, but expect to read a lot in her class. Pay attention to the lectures and take notes, although when I was in her class, she recorded the lectures, so you had the opportunity to go back and study themtake notes from them, which really helped.

As always a great professor. Actively engages students about assigned readings, very open to other opinions, and funny to boot. Some may complain about the workload, but for history majors its the standard fair, maybe even slightly on the light side. She has her set of expectations, once you've dialed in it you'll pull good grades.

When she says you won't pass if you don't read it's true in a way. The questions on her quizzes and tests have questions from the RAP book. If you skim through it you can pass, but don't expect an A. Make sure you write what she mentions about the RAP docs.

Dr. B is by far one of the greatest professors I've ever had. She's awesome at teaching and you will learn a LOT! Her tests are difficult esp. the essay portion. She expects you to incorporate a lot of the assigned readings in to your writing so you MUST read. No way you can pass the class without reading what she assigns on the syllabus. She loves to test you on the RAP documents and expects you to include as many as you can in your essays! I got an A in her course but it was tough!

By far the toughest course I have taken, but also by far the best. Dr. Blackwell is one of the best professors in TAMIU. She makes history interesting and gives perspectives you might never have thought of. She is quite demanding though, so if you want an A you will work harder than ever before. Best lectures around as well.

Reading an absolute necessity. She also looks for keywords she emphasized in class in your essays. Elaborate everything you mention. Also she's really feminist-y and glosses over huge events then spend 5 minutes talking about gender issues or a woman's minor contribution. take at your own risk, fellas.

Dr. Blackwell is not for the faint of heart. If you invest time in this class you WILL learn, but you need to be able to follow instructions fully and your papers are graded on everything. She is a perfectionist when it comes to essays and papers so make sure you devote your time to them.

Dr. Blackwell is an amazing professor! Her class is definitely challenging and she doesnt give easy A's. You really have to earn them, but if you go to class, and read the assigned texts you should be fine. Also remember that she is big on details...so try to include as much info as possible. I took this class last spring and got the A, so its atta

American Firsthand will be your bible. Be ready for a lot of reading in order to do good in essays. She is looking for examples from that book in your answers. Write as much as you know. She is a great professor. Its is a lot of reading but as long as you do what she says the class will be a piece of cake. And she is a big fan of class participation

The class is very interesting. I was just lazy. She is extremely knowledgeable about the subject. Make sure you read the America Firsthand documents because they will be on all the quizzes and tests. All in all, a very good professor. Remember, it's not hard. There's just some reading you have to do and the readings are essential.

Her essays required alot of detail you need to be prepare for what your writing, you don't have much time to elavorate during the writing. Try to relate your essays to the documents you read and American Firsthand its like her bible. GOOD LUCK!
