So, I thought it was necessary that I leave this review. Professor Cardenas really does care about the success of her students. With that being said, it's important to know that this is not a class you can just blow off. You have to study and read to get a good grade. But Cardenas really works with you!! She's amazing.. I would def take her again.

Comment:

I took Ms. Cardenas for Biology and was one of the best professors I took. She knows her stuff very well and cares about you! Her powerpoints are available on Canvas, so I would write down notes before coming to class and then read the book. Tests and quizzes come straight from the lectures. I have to drop her class due to personal reasons.

She was a great professor, very sweet and caring. Her class was ALL lecture which was expected but your whole grade was basically on 5 tests and the tests were not too easy, I only did good from intensely studying the review. Other than that, everything is accessible on canvas (powerpoint, voice over review answers, review, etc) which helped alot!

Absolutely loved professor Cardenas, I took her lecture in class and she explained the material so well! there are 4 test and she does provide a review. I never opened to book and i made an A. She also gives out a ton of extra credit! Take her!

Cardenas is THE WORST when it comes to test reviews (85% of your lecture grade!!). Verbal test review online before each test, avg about 6 long pgs. When you go to take your test (@ SCC only) There will be 6-10 questions out of the 30 that were not on the review about something RANDOM. TESTS PRECEDE LAB MATERIAL SHE RUSHES YOU THE WHOLE SEMESTER.

I took the online class. If you are a motivated student you can do well in this class. The tests can be a little confusing bc they are challenging multiple choice exams. Prof Cardenas offers extra credit & opportunity to correct assignments to receive full credit. It's not a blow off class, but it's not too hard if you put in the work.

Professor Cardenas makes biology interesting, you can tell how passionate she is about the subject. You should show up every class because there's an assignment due at the end of lecture, and won't get an A without completing enough of them. She gives extra credit to improve upon your exam grades, so you have many chances to do great in her class.

Prof. Cardenas is sweet woman but a boring professor. You need to really love the subject in order to pay attention. One in class assignment every day, vital to a good grade. Her reviews for her tests are VERY helpful. Do and study those and you're guaranteed an A on the test.

She teaches how she understands biology, she doesn't dumb it down. She's really passionate about science. Sometimes she goes through the lessons too quickly. But she will answer your questions. You have to work to pass this class-- which is understandable for biology. If you miss a day her lectures are online.

For it being an online bio class it was not difficult at all. Very easy A as long as you get all of your work done. There was one assignment I didn't do too hot on, so she sent it back and let me correct it and gave me full credit when I sent it back. I would take her again. Most challenging part would be the practical. Calendar is also confusing.

She Just lectures and put the power point on blackboard to help with studying, has test study reviews on blackboard. Class participation points over p.p. activity, very easy. Test given are not too bad if you study.. Never used my book!

She gives quit a bit of "busy" work! Assignments aren't easy to keep up with cause you have to go through a million tabs to access them. Offers extra credit for lengthy papers that have a vigorous rubric for one measly point lol. Review sheets are VERY long and unhelpful so are her power points. THERE IS MULTIPLE ASSN. ALMOST DAILY IN LECTURELAB!!

Very very rigorous class. There is pretty much something due every day for the online class (tests, quizzes, papers, homework, or to read out of the book). As long as you participate and complete the assignments, you'll do fine. She posts lectures online but are very lengthy. Overall a great and helpful teacher though.

Science is NOT my thing and she made me feel stupid for asking elementary questions. The tests are really hard and the reviews are no help at all. She moves too quickly during the lectures to keep up. Does offer extra credit, but it's not substantial.

Biology for Non-science majors is still a difficult subject. Lots of reading, lectures and long reviews that are not necessarily useful when taking the test. She does give a lot of extra credit opportunities, most of them worth one point.

Professor Cardenas is easily my favorite professor this semester. As long as you attend lecture, you'll have all the information you need, and she has great reviews in class/online that are very helpful, especially if you listen to the accompanying audio for the reviews. 100% recommend her to anyone!

Took online for Summer. The lab isn't bad, including the practicals. Lecture is a different story. Crazy amount of studying required. Prof Cardenas supplies many study guides, which is very nice of her, but they don't match up to the tests at all, which makes them mostly useless. No idea what to really study for before tests. Very frustrating.

Comment:

Non Science majors, do your homework when selecting a Science professor, get references from other students, talk to advising. Science is tough, working hard is not optional, but it should't be impossible. Research Prof Mark Garcia wish I would've. Do Not take this class. Test reviews take 2-4 hours to complete, but will not help on the test.
