I was on her bad list because of my struggle with turning in papers on time (due to my ADD). I asked her for an extension on a paper a week and a half in advance and was denied. Upon turning in the paper, late, she was EXTREMELY disrespectful and sarcastic. Unbelievable!

Ms. Hyland was extremely helpful. I returned to school after a lengthy absence. Her ENG 190 helped me reacquaint myself with both college life and productive study habits. She adds touches of humor to the class that keeps an otherwise dry subject from becoming a chore.

I wouldn't say it's an easy A, but she's fair & wants everyone to succeed. Lots of help outside of class, but you have to ask for it. Doesn't grade down for disagreeing with her. Lets you pick your own topic for the research paper. Funny and really cares.

This woman is crazy. Her class is an easy A. There are a couple of quizzes that she basically gives you the questions for ahead of time AND there are 4 writing assignments. Even though its an easy A, avoid this class if possible...

she is pretty easy just be respectful so she likes you. the class was really a waste of my time but you can only miss a few so choose wisely. it was boring but was an easy A as long as you turn in the papers

she was a good teacher but once she likes you she likes you and it can kind of get annoying... she's sort of a stickler for the rules but the papers are easy because she prepares you for them plus if you are a pretty good paper writer then you'll pull off an A finel.. she is however a little mean when you want to take an occasional nap in the class

Unlike other people's comments, I thought she was very fair and normal. No one really wants to take an ENG 190, but as required course, this class is decent. Hyland barely ever gives homework assignments and there are only 4 papers, no tests.

Hyland is awful! I hated that class with a passion. I think that on the first day she decided who she was going to like and dislike, because she pinpoints people and even made one guy apologize in an email to her. Ridiculous! Even our groups were decided based on who she liked-and the clothes...ICK!

She picked very good books to read, but sometimes assigned 90+ pages to read per class. The final and midterm were easy. She offers a lot of extra credit. I would take her again.
