Salazar is one of the best professors I've had at Western. The class was difficult but she prepares you well for the exams and papers. Go to her office hours and ask questions. The discussion portion of the class taught by TAs was not my favorite as they were unorganized and unsure of direction at times.

Salazar is a great professor! Exams aren't easy but fair. Use her office hours! She gave us the possible essay questions a week before exams and would look at our outlines and give advice if we asked. Definitely go to class. She's super intelligent, an organized lecturer, and a fun person to be around!

There are presentations and papers in this class! Salazar is fantastic, shes a great prof and is so intersting and amazing to listen and talk to. She loves engaging with students and talks a lot so be ready to take notes that aren't all online. You'll get to know your peers in this class and you'll read a decent amount. pay close attention in class

Great lady. She definitely expects you to be prepared with the readings but as long as there is a lot of class participation, lectures are good. TAs tend to put in the bulk of help with class study session and office hours. If you ask her for clarification she usually does a good job with that.

Loved this class!! Came into w/ close to no political knowledge or desire to know more, and came out totally jazzed on political participation. She is a great lecturer, super engaging and clear, tons of reading but honestly it is all relevant and interesting, does a really good job of presenting things w/o bias. 100% would recommend this class.

Please don't take a class from this woman. Unless you're an upper-level political science major or grad student, you won't understand a thing that comes out of her mouth. I studied for DAYS before one of her midterm exams and still didn't do well. She's very vague and grades hard. She's an interesting lady to talk to, but her class is terrible.

This was BY FAR the most difficult class I have ever taken. Professor Salazar really knows her stuff but I spent more time reading for this class then my other two upper division classes combined and then some. I was stressed at one point and asked for help and she scrapped almost my whole essay and said not to enjoy the sun too much. GPA killer

Debra is a fantastic American Political Systems professor who really genuinely is interested in helping her students understand, but she doesn't cut any slack when you aren't as invested as she is, and feels that you need to earn an A with excelent work. You shouldn't expect an A just because you did the work.

She is very smart so she expects you to read and know the content. This class is great if you want to learn more about american politics, lots of information is given. It isn't always the most interesting but if you want to accept the challenge and apply yourself you will do great!

Best professor in the department. She'll work you hard but you'll learn more from her than most other professors. If you care about the material and work hard, you'll do fine and you'll be happy you had her.

Salazar is so passionate about what she teaches that I started to get interested, too. It's a pretty challenging class and there's a lot of reading, but the textbook has chapter summaries and she will go over the important stuff multiple times in class. If you have any interest in PLSC, take Salazar. You're gonna work hard, but you'll learn.

She is a very hard grader, however if you do well in the group section of the class you should be able to pass the class. Rarely used the textbooks, she goes over everything in class.

As a teacher, very clever and knowledgeable, fun to listen to and her lectures help with understanding the reading. If you're interested in US gov and don't mind a lot of reading, you can succeed.

Pretty tough class, with lots of assigned reading and a lot of writing. You will improve, you will learn a lot, but it was a hard class. She legitimately wants you to succeed, which is refreshing. Overall an awesome professor with high expectations.

This class assigned the most reading I have ever had assigned in a class. In week 4 and have 500 pages of assigned reading for this class alone. Very high expectations of students and perhaps a little out of touch with their busy lives. Cool lady, but this class is impossible to keep up with.

The class was really interesting and professor Salazar did a great job summarizing the texts. I came into the class knowing nothing about our government and feel as though I have learned a lot this past quarter.
