Comment:
Dr. Kehl was a phenomenal professor. For those of us who are careful readers who enjoy discussing and writing about a text, he is unmatched. I took every class he offered, and he chaired my master's thesis. He is not warm and fuzzy, to be sure. If literature is not your thing, fine, but don't blame him for exposing your inadequacy. Get over it.

I had Professor Kehl in undergrad and he wasn't that bad, not as bad as I've read here. Socially he needs a bit of work. And I'm not as enamored of F. Scott as he is (Bruccoli is pronounced Brook-lee, rather than Bru-CO-li; he should know that) but if he sticks to what he knows (dead white males) he actually has a lot to say. I give him a C+.

omg, is this guy still teaching? i hope he isn't, he should have been fired years ago for his patronizing attitudes towards students, his uselessness as an inspiring reader, his complete lack of empathy towards anything but his own opinions - a total complete dud!!!!!

I still have nightmares about the class I had a couple of years ago....a truly horrible professor if there ever was one....a class so uninteresting and a professor so inept at relating to students you could only marvel at his mesmerizing lack of common sense....advice: be thankful he is no longer teaching....

Had him a couple years ago: his class was painfully boring, he likes to hear himself lecture, he's defensive and almost insecure when you ask him questions. He is one of the two worst professors I ever had. >=[

Dr. Kehl is SUPER knowledgeable and always willing to help if you ask him questions to clarify. Pay attention to his handouts and the key terms - he'll give you a great background in lit and he expects you to really think about the terms. He's really good about keeping class discussion focused on the subject. Take a class w/ him if he comes back.

He didn't relate well to our class and cited every other professor but himself - very much a traditionalist and not my favorite, but not horrible either.

Dr. Kehl is the epitome of the elitist academic with no grasp of how to teach. He mentions five critics for every work, but fails to ever see the actual craft or heart of the work itself. Avoid this class.

Kehl is more interested in listening to himself lecture than he is in educating others. He is more interested in the criticism than he is in the work itself. He is a sycophant. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS.
