Worst instructor I had in four yrs. She had trouble understanding obvious points that most of the students could grasp. Very focused on her own ideas, to the exclusion of others. If shed been more articulate or had more knowledge or skill in literature or writing, listening to her would have felt worthwhile. Profs should have baseline competence!

She is a very nice woman, but she is obviously not interested in actually teaching. I took her for several required MFA /LIT courses, and she sets it up so she doesn't actually have to teach. She gave an interview that says,if something has to go in terms of her teaching or her writing, it's teaching. She's a poet not a teacher.

Show up, do homework, read & participate and get an "A" But you have to show up...ON TIME, with your work and not an excuse. Very helpful, but you have to show up. Did I mention attendance is mandatory?If you have a day job&cannot come 2 class on time time another class...being late is like not being there.It's a serious, fun,productive workshop.

Her workshops rock! Her feedback made all my poems better. If anything, she goes too easy on you - but still teaches you to craft a better poem, one at a time. Great on revision advice/ideas. The most successful contemporary poet I know of - must be for a reason! Show up on time, turn in your poems = A.

She is an excellent professor that will give you honest feedback about your poetry. Every semester is different yet enlightning. She is easily accessable. Her only problem is tardiness. So don't be late to her class.

This class is super easy. You write a poem each week experimenting with a different style. Very good with feedback and helpful. Very cool lady, she's like one of the students. The only way you will not get an A in this class is if you don't do the work, or miss 3 classes. No tests. Your final project is to revise your 8 best poems. Recommended!
