The class was very boring and he is very repetitive. The way he explains things can be confusing but he gives a lot of chances to ask questions about the assignments. I could tell that he wanted to help and was very nice about giving advice on assignments. The work load is a lot but manageable if you don't procrastinate.

Don't take his class. It's extremely boring. It could be an online course. Everything he says in class is pretty irrelevant. It takes him a year to answer a question because he never answers the question directly. Plus, he foams at the mouth. It's not the worst, but it's definitely not the best you could have.

Its not the worst class, I HATE writing and thats where the grades come from. He was always very nice to my class, seems like he really cares about this subject BUT he doesn't give deadlines which is hard if you procrastinate. If you show up and follow his guidelines for papers you will be fine, he talks the entire class and its hard to stay up.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS GUY. You will seriously regret it. He randomly freaks out on my class and just rambles on and on. I have nothing positive to say about Dougherty. First essay I submitted I thought I did really well on, he gave me a C and basically tore it apart. I wish I changed profs!!!

Dr. Dougherty is a very nice professor, but the class is very boring. His examples are much too long and in depth. He is a tough grader, but if you do the work and try your best, you will have no trouble getting a good grade.

This was the worst writing class I have ever taken. I honestly think that he just likes to hear himself speak. My class had six students and it was a 3 hour night class. He talks about subject matter that has nothing to do with writing and becoming a better writer, and he doesn't allow our small class to hold any sort of discussions. AVOID HIM

Show up to class, show him you're interested, and do the writing. He'll grade your papers pretty hard, but lets you redo them, and bumps up overall grade if you put in effort. I had two classes with him, and I don't especially like him but if you show interest he'll help you out. Just do what he asks for and talk to him.

Proffesor Dougherty is a very boring and repetitive guy, although the topics he chooses are very popular and interesting. Easy class, all you gotta do is read, and write your papers. He even gives you a second chance to rewrite your paper!

I have him this semester, Jill Craven was suppose to teach the class but she was out. My advice never take this guy for any class. He is a hard grader, i bet you are thinking, "oh i am a good writer i will do fine." Yeah i am a good writer too but when it comes to him i get C's on papers i worked really hard on.
