Intro to philosophy with keenan is 2 short papers, 2 tests, and a final. On the tests he asks for very specific answers. The papers are not hard. He does make philosophy interesting but the class is not an easy A.

Dr. Keenan is a really caring professor. He wants you to succeed and thoroughly explains all of the texts that we read. Very little homework, only three tests and one paper. Although he is looking for specific answers, if you listen to his explanations in class this should not be a problem.

Not a mean bone in his body. Very very kind professor. Take very detailed notes, trying to copy down everything he says. Not much day-to-day homework or reading. A couple of tests and short papers make up the grade. I recommend him for a nonstressful philosophy class that keeps your attention.

Loved intro philosophy with Professor Keenan. He looks for specific answers on tests but if you study the notes you should be fine. There is one major writing assignment and two short summaries, and readings.

My classmates and I agree that he is one of the toughest graders we have had here. Even though we understood the material, he wanted very specific answers on his tests.

As long as you put the effort in you are destined for a B or higher. He can be a tough grader but if you challenge him proving why your wrong answers deserve partial credit he will do his best to give you points where you deserve, which helps your grade. Definitely a great professor, highly recommend.

Best class. I'm not interested in philosophy at all but didn't mind going to class because he always made it fun. Gives pop quizzes but all you have to do is read to get them right. Only two tests and one super small paper. Highly highly recommend him.

Definitely a challenging professor. You'll learn a lot, but you might not get a good grade in the process. If you just want an easy into to philosophy class then don't take him.

I am awful with philosophy but am happy i took him. He explains everything in class. Just take notes on what he says and study the quotes he tells you to highlight in the book and you will be good. The tests contain multiple choice from the passages in the book and open ended which he gives you word for word the answers too

Potentially the worst teacher for this subject. He wants you to remember word for word what he says in class for the exams. Personally I don't agree with his atheist teachings either, especially at a Jesuit school. I recommend that unless you want to spend the semester memorizing specific words from a book, to choose a much more reasonable prof

Professor keenan is a really nice guy and makes the class interesting. In class he will tell you exactly what he wants you to write on the test so it is best to memorize those definitions

Very nice guy, funny and willing to help. 3 tests one essay. Class is fun BUT if you do not write exactly what he wants on the test you won't get any credit. No partial credit, no extra credit. Don't take for a core class if you want an A.

He is a very funny guy and makes old, dead philosophers significant to the modern day context. My one knock is that he is inconsistent. He says he is there to help you but I always felt rushed out of his office. He also says that his questions are based for common sense, but if you don't write EXACTLY what he wants you are completely wrong.

Really great teacher - personable and fun to listen to. Material is difficult to understand but he will help you out in his office. One big paper in the beginning, two tests, and a final. Not hard to study for - easy A if you put some effort into it. Enjoyable class overall!

His 300 level(meaning that this is elective or third RS/PH class) PH clearly told me that if you are hoping for a good grade, don't take this class. His teaching is very interesting and intellectual, but your grade only depends on four pieces of work. My love of PH still lives, but my hope of being rewarded of my effort and enthusiasm was crushed.
