Best professor I have ever had. Everyone goes to class, even though attendance is optional, because he makes the material interesting. He is raw and hilarious. You can tell that he truly cares about the students. I am so sad this is his last year teaching.

While attendance isn't mandatory, you'll find that no one misses a course. It remains the only course I have ever taken where, at the end of a semester, a full room of 500 students gave the professor a standing ovation. Absolutely, positively, the best professor at a university that has several great ones.

Not as impressed with him as I thought I would be. He gets a lot of talk around campus as being the best professor but I have had many professors who have been way better. I find him as being a know-it-all who doesn't know what he's talking about half of the time.

I will say it, Dr. Van Gerven is the best professor on this campus. I had no problem going to class at 3pm on Friday but only wish there was a popcorn machine so I could stretch out and watch the show! The man is entertaining as hell and loves to teach. You will not regret taking this class. Even if you have no interest in anthro, you will!!!

I love this professor's lectures and i love the compassion and understanding that he tries to convey to the students in the classroom. i will never, ever, forget his lectures - i nearly talk about something i learned from them everyday. Thank You Professor Van Gerven.
