Prof Lucas is pretty boring. He speaks in a monotone and doesn't do a lot of interactive work with the class. He's not a tough paper grader, though his paper assignments are long. If you do the readings you should be fine and there are no surprises on the exams, but I didn't find him to be particularly interesting.

Lucas is a really smart guy, although at times in lower level classes he may seem disinterested. He definitely plays favorites so just get on his good side early. He want to UNC, so anything tar heels related he's into. Lectures can be boring, but he's actually a better teacher than most in Poli Sci. Has actually worked in DC.
