Deyanira is a very sweet and hilarious person, but as a teacher she is very unorganized. It was very hard to understand what she wanted us to do because she would speak to us in very rapid Spanish when most of us couldn't even understand her when she was speaking slowly. Every email was very hard to decipher. It's fine if you study on your own.

This professor is very unorganized and also a pain to talk to when it comes to communicating with her. I understand that it's hard for her to send emails in English and all but the way she words things out can often be seen as rude ALL CAPS and obvious sarcasm.

I have taken many classes from Deyanira as I am as Spanish major. Even though she is my advisor and her and I get along great, she is not very everyone. She is very sporadic and unorganized and will send out emails at 2am constantly. What she lacks she makes up for in passion and love for the subject and can be very funny and creative.

She is one of the nicest and sweetest ladies I have ever met. However, her teaching style and classroom behavior is ludicrous at best. She will get mad at you for not reading stuff she sent at 2 in the morning the day of class. One of the worst professors I have ever had, but one of the nicest ladies who will work with you. Be prepared for a ride.

I've noticed that every one who struggled in this class are the same people who thought it would be easy. You HAVE to pay attention to every word, it WILL take effort. She's a lenient grader if you try hard. Don't be afraid to speak up in class and fumble for words.

She's a nice person and very interesting to talk to, but unclear as a teacher. Assignment directions are hard to get and test material is unpredictable. I felt my Spanish didn't improve much and was originally hoping to do a Minor but since she's the only one that teaches Spanish 4 I'm reconsidering.

Deyanira is a lovely woman who is very passionate about Latin culture and loves her native Colombia. It is sometimes difficult to understand assignments and lessons due to the language gap between her and the students. Overall the class was enjoyable and not terribly difficult.

I took Spanish 3 from her. 4 yrs of high school and 2 courses @ WC, I got A's; I got a C- because of ineffective teaching. When approached about questions, she makes you feel stupid. I completed all assignments and met all criteria for the class and still was never good enough! If the content is too hard, she just skips over you and let you fail

Deyanira doesn't always explain grammar clearly, however, she is very passionate about teaching Spanish culture. You will be tested on culture as well, however, she will not make that clear during reviews. She is always willing to work with struggling students and isn't out to ruin your GPA. She cares that you try, not necessarily that you do well.

Deja is crazy! She's fun,entertaining and likes to have a good time in class. She is not, however, the best teacher to learn spanish from. She prefers to teach in spanglish and it is difficult to always understand her. But she'll teach you some great things about spanish culture, literature, or history, and bring in food!
