Comment:

Although I love her as a person, Janvrin really needs to add more instructions for the XBRL portion of this course. I would recommend taking a different accounting elective if possible. SHE ONLY GIVES B's for final course grades. Even if you put in a lot of work to her course. She gives everyone 75% on all of their quizzes, as well as exams.

Comment:

Janvrin is a tougher teacher but you will gain more out of the class than the other professor. SQL can be the hardest part of the class. Once mastered homework assignments should be a breeze. The longest homework assignment is wdesk of over 100 pages long .

There is a lot of busy work in her class, though the instructions give you step by step instructions for most assignments. Her quizzes can be tough. There is only 2 exams: mid-term and final. They are worth a lot in the class. Overall, I loved her as a teacher. Was wanting to take another course with her, but the class was not offered.

Overall, there is a lot of work throughout the class. The assignments are long but are very clear. Reading the book is advised and helps for quizzes & tests (which are not easy). Dr. Janvrin is a great professor and actually cares about her students.

Great teacher. Loved her set up. A lot of quizzes. May use heiroglyphics to teach, you will learn. Very interested in personal life. Very responsive to e-mails and questions.

Janvrin is by no means an easy professor, but is super helpful when it comes to assisting students during office hours and outside of class. While there are a lot of homework and team exercises, the instructions are clear, concise, and essentially explain how to do the problems step by step. Go to class, but I promise she's a great professor!

She expects a lot from you and has a lot of tedious homework assignments. Her teaching style is different, but if you go to class you should pass. If you don't go to class, you wont have any idea about what shes specifically covering in class because she give you blank powerpoints and you type as you listen to her.

Her lectures were clear and simple. Assignments were a lot harder than the examples in class. She was not very helpful when students had questions. Tests and quizzes are easy if you are good a memorizing details from the textbook.

Took Janvrin for 383 and 384 during 2010 school year. She is an excellent teacher and you can easily earn an A+ if you go to class, participate and read the book. In 384, the projects were time consuming but she gave ample time for completion. Don't wait til the last minute. She is funny and extremely helpful as a teacher and reference.

Definitely recommend Professor Janvrin. She is very helpful if you are in need of help outside of class. Her 5 part project is very simple. She expects you to know how to use Microsoft Access, but her project tells you step-by-step how to do everything within Access. Easy A. Should study a little bit for the tests though

Liked this class a lot. Make sure you do some of the assignments in the book before quizams, you will need to know what you are doing. Janvarin kept the class mostly entertaining. Probably one of my easiest classes this semester

Horrible teacher, doesn't care about students' success. Assumes everyone knows Microsoft Access and gives assignments that take up to 4 1/2 to 5 hours. Picks on students, talks down to them as well. Absolute horrible representation of Iowa State University. Oh, she also gives misleading information for programming assignments, don't take her.

She hasn't taught this course in a while so she doesn't always present the information clearly which can be confusing. Tests aren't too hard, but make sure you study more than just in class problems because there will be things that you haven't seen in class before. She is the most inconclusive and irrelevant professor I have had yet. I now understand why everyone puts this class off until they are in their graduating semester. I sought her out for help and she made me feel like a complete idiot when in reality, other people were having issues as well.

Mrs. Janvrin was a great professor! She was very helpful and I really liked the way she organized her lectures. She gives very clear directions on what she expects and is very understanding!!
