I loved Professor Jeske. Her witty sense of humor made me laugh every day. As for her class, the content was somewhat boring. You don't need to read though, because she goes over reading extensively in class. The tests are long, but the two paper assignments are easy. Go to discussion because you get points for just showing up.

Professor Jeske was very witty and made learning about philosophy more relatable in my opinion. I did well in her Meaning of Life class without doing most of the assigned readings because she went over them in detail during her lectures. Overall I thought she was a solid professor and I thought the course was very straightforward.

Is by far the worst teacher Ive ever had. She doesnt show up to her posted office hours and when she does she meets with you for 5 minutes offering minimum help possible. She is also not reasonable with grades nor will she tell you what she wants from you. When you ask a question in lecture its always deemed wrong. Dont expect replies either

Easily by far the worst teacher not only at Iowa but in my life. She is not acceptable today meet outside of class. She wont respond to any emails from anyone. Goes over same stuff over and over (its a drag). They way she walks is shes surperior to the students. Isnt helpful or reasoning on any assignments she really wants to screw you over

I dreaded every class. Without my boyfriend's support and encouragement I could not have put up with this instructor. She's like Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED PROF JESKE. And yes I would actually scream that. She was the reason why I decided to minor in Philosophy. Extremely relatable, funny, I didn't find her awkward at all. Considering it was the first philosophy course I've ever taken, I was full on obsessed as she explains the material with multiple examples. Lots of papers though!

TERRIBLE in being accessible outside of class however she is a very relatable. She's clear about what her tests will be over but the tests are EXTENSIVE. Try buying a hand massage for the pain your hands will feel after an exam. She's not very kind about sick days. I genuinely was sick to the point where I couldn't stand and she still docked points

Professor Jeske always keeps things interesting in lecture. She can say some controversial things, but she gives you a forewarning at the beginning of the course. The class is graded on a few short papers and exams, so it is important to put a lot of work into them. In this class, if you put in the effort, you should receive a good grade.

Diane is the best professor I have had at the University of Iowa thus far. She is very funny and each class usually starts with 20-30 minutes of review from the previous class (so if you can't make one lecture its no biggy). She ALWAYS answers questions thoroughly. Write down her examples from class and use them on the test to get an A.

Only a few assignments throughout the whole semester, and mostly based off understanding and knowledge. You definitely have to do the readings for this class, and it would be best to attend, as the exams are taken directly from reading material and lecture, and Diane does a great job explaining the readings during lecture. NO TEXTBOOK!!!

She makes philosophy easy to understand, and even funny sometimes. I came into "Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" a first semester freshman. I thought the content would go over my head, but she made it comprehendible. It really wasn't necessary to do the readings because she explains everything in class.

Jeske is an awesome professor to talk to one-on-one; she's hilarious and knows the material pretty well. But there was a lot of reading, way more than I was expecting. It was easy to pass (3 tests, 3 papers) and attendance isn't required for discussions but it can help your grade. Lectures got boring and she doesn't always clarify clearly in them.

While Diane's personality is a lot like most other profs from here or Kirkwood, she isn't a good speaker. She also frequently seemed bitter or angry about something.

Professor Jeske is a great teacher. If you go to lecture and pay attention you should do well. Sometimes things can be confusing but if you ask her for help she will clear things up. She is also funny and makes lectures fun

While some of Diane's lectures seemed a little repetitive, she taught her students how to think critically about philosophy and the material we studied. Easy do to well if you take good notes and actively listen in class.

She is funny, but sometime that makes it hard to get her point on a certain topic. Exams contain only essay questions. It requires you to remember a lot of stuff exactly. You should really pay attention to the details of the material based on the outline she gives.

Lots of reading, but you can get by for the most part not doing it. Lectures can either be long and tedious or quick and engaging depending on the topic. Dr. Jeske herself is funny, and her presentations make taking notes easy. However, if you don't go to class, you'll miss out on info you can't find anywhere else.
