Maybe he was a young, hungry turk of an instructor 20 years ago, but he has forgotten his own struggles and "instructs" only to cash a check and feed his ego. When I pay tuition at out of state rates, I expect for the instructor to at least read my work. He is a cheer leader, not a critical reader. He's the man for you if you want empty praise.

He is not a teacher. He is a writer. He admits this. He has a lesson with every story and is a kind, wonderful man that will teach you something if you listen and believe in yourself. An inspirng, legend of a writer that will be missed.

Wow well I took this class back in 98 and I just came on here for fun.. and all these comments are so right on! Total waste of time. Didn't grade anything. Didn't give feedback on anything. I was so annoyed with this class. All he does is tell stories and yell. At least back when I was in his class. :-)

Total waste of time. This was an exercise in ego - his. Class met less than 1/2 of required hrs. Half-*** workshop, 0 constructive criticism on work. No written comments. More interested in telling personal stories. Constant refs to drinking gets old. Needs reminding re: his obligations to teaching & students. Pity Memphis.
