Very nice prof! Liked him so much I'm taking another POLI class with him this semester. POLI 381 was definitely a GPA booster! To do well you need to attend his classes and skim through the textbook.

Barry is a good enough prof, his lectures are kinda waffly though and I found I could just read the textbook and have a better idea about the course material. Really nice guy, can be really funny, but sometimes super boring, I fell asleep in his classes every once in awhile. Don't avoid, but don't change your schedule around for him either.

One of the best profs I have had the experience of learning under. Not only is he clear about class material and what he seeks on tests, but his outlines are very helpful when it comes to studying for midterms and finals. His ability to add jokes and anecdotes to his lectures is a welcome change. Take his classes if you want to enjoy polisci

Dr. Barry is a pleasant man who is willing to help you. However, he is maybe the worst lecturer I have ever had. Lectures are painfully boring and all he does is re-teach the textbook material. Tests were ridiculous, MC come from random sentences in the textbook and written response were hard to do well on. Grade based entirely on tests as well.

Generally really well taught. If you attend class on a regular basis, you can get a good mark (B+ to A-). Really helpful for direction of resources and clarity of thesis. Would recommend to anyone who wants a pleasant class

Good lecturer. The multiple choice part of the tests were fair, but I found my myself not doing as well on the written response. The answers he wanted were quite specific, and the questions could be rather non-specific didn't always lead you in the direction of the answer he wanted. Otherwise it was a pretty decent course.

Dr. Barry is one of THE best profs I have ever had at the UofC. If you have any interest in Canada-US Relations, TAKE THIS COURSE WITH BARRY. However, you must show up for class and read the textbook(s) to fully comprehend the topics discussed in class. Tests are fair - 2 of 4 questions (Long Answer style). Course consisted of 2 exams and 1 paper.

Good guy. For his tests the multiple choice all comes from the book, but for the written part you have to go to class, its always related to what he posts on blackboard, like he will post some document, know that document, and he explains it further in class, you must go, and make sure you know the main topics he is going over.

Dr Barry is awesome. His tests are very straightforward, if you go to class and read the text you will know exactly what to expect on the tests. There is no paper in the class, just 3 non-cumulative tests. Generally, an awesome professor, take him if you can!
