Not a great teacher, would not take again. Extremely boring professor, does not attempt to engage students. Assigns an absurd amount of reading that he does not ever discuss. Put wrong terms on the midterm and gave a 5 page "extra credit" that he graded very harshly so it did not even end up helping most people's grades

Comment:

Professor Brand was great. His lectures were always specific packed with information and he really cared about his students. While he did give a lot of readings he explained them all thoroughly and it was better than reading the actual book.

Comment:

The single best American Government Professor at the school. Stays totally middle of the road politically and loves to hear opinions of his students. He's a fair grader. He's super helpful and super constructive in office hours. You definitely need to put in work to get an A in his class but very few are at risk of failing. All around great guy too

I felt like I was listening to a left-wing propaganda machine. I cannot understand how somebody that is so basely liberal can be allowed to teach free-thinking students. This professor doesn't mold minds so much as he warps them.

Brand loves the material he teaches. Does assign a lot of reading but even if you don't keep up with it hes very clear in what goes on in the books. Planning on being a Pols. major and his class reassured this idea for me. If you work hard and pay attention, youll do well. Fair grader - doesnt hold a pol. bias at all. Overall, great guy and class

Professor Brand is a great teacher. There are a LOT of readings, but he explains them all really well. Although occasionally dry, he's a brilliant man and a fair grader. Recommended for all PoliSci majors.

Nice person...boring techer, although he knows his stuff..hard grader and the amount of reading he gives is just astounding,,,like 200+ pages to read of a boring book per class...if u like massive amounts of reading them by all mean this is your professor

Tough grader, but excellent professor. I took him for the American Presidency and the class was well worth it. The reading can be heavy at times, but it's all interesting if you're interested in the topic. Well recommended if you're a major.
