Challeging course, but not impossible to recieve a decent grade. Start assignments early because there is normally at least one question that you'll have to see the TA about. Good, fair prof.

His deep understanding of the material is coupled with a refreshingly clear and comprehensive manner of delivery. One of the very best in the department, Dferg is also a nice chap. The course is a definite challenge, but if you are up to the challenge, 250 will open a new world of understanding.

Very tough class, but he will help you if you ask. I was there for numerous office hours and no one else came - yet there were many complaints after exams. He is an extremely experienced teacher - don't mistake calmness for indifference.

This guy will make you not want to do your BSc program. Very unclear. He makes no sense. Thinks he's really smart. It's only when you're all failing that he realizes he should do something about it because it just makes him have a bad rep. Not good at explaining at all. Tests and assignments are unfair. If you can avoid his classes.

amount of material 'taught' is ridiculous. The only way to get through is to memorize his notes, but it still seems impossible to beat a C+, even if youre good at math/programming. The text assumes prior knowledge we don't have, as does the prof. Transcripts take a beating from this one. BSc filter

Perhaps the crown jewel of all the BSc courses. 353 is horrible. Even if you memorise his notes, it will not help you on the exam. The bad memories will eventually fade, the big fat D on your transcript won't.

definitely the toughest 300 level econ course. the material's easy for dr. ferguson - i dont think he knows why we struggle with it. nevertheless he does a great job of explaining the material. hes helpful & fair. i wish i tried as hard in this class as i did in 250 - 353 is much tougher.

A painfully wretched class, taught by a self involved, unhelpful little man who makes it worse. His standard opening lecture phrase "I assume you all have no programming experience" is one of the great lies of post-secondary education. This is not a class for eocnomists but for programmers.

My dream teacher! One of the best human beings I have ever come across in life. Very modest in his approach and that is why sometime people usually underestimate his strengths. Highly recommend his courses because level of his knowledge is simply outstanding.

Dr. Ferguson is the most dedicated professor that students have the fortune of encountering. He held numerous final review sessions to ensure that we understood the material. He is always available for help and most importantly, he is lucid and engaging in presenting such challenging material.

The only reason why I got through 250 is that the prof is awesome. He teaches a really tough class, but he definately puts his heart into it. He has a lot of experience so he knows how to help. I wish there were more prof's like Dr.F!

This course is not an easy one, but a very useful one. Lots of work, and the notes are not the clearest in the world, but Dr. Ferguson tries very hard to make sure everyone is on the same page. Oh, and his mantra is mind-bending.

Extremely clear and well-spoken - you can tell he's been teaching mathematical economics a long time. Tests are fair. Very helpful and friendly outside of class - you can stop by his office anytime. He beams with pride when his students' "lights go on" after he explains something!

For Econ 250, 251, and 353, it is not an easy course! He is not that clear, but if you go ask him, he'll likely tell you the answer! If he has time.
