Comment:
I enjoyed Dr. Anderson as a person, but was not a fan of her teaching style. We talked about current events more than the actual class material. When it was time for exams, it felt like she would cram information in the class before. She is a very tough grader. Papers handed out in class were never brought up again until you find an exam q on them.

Comment:
ECO 110 with Donna is a fairly easy class, so I'm not sure about the negative reviews. You don't get much homework, lectures have a lot of discussion (not just note-taking), and the exams are fairly easy. This class with Donna has been very enjoyable and pretty easy, only dislike I have is her obvious anti-conservative views in class. TAKE HER.

Don't take Donna. Just trust me, don't do it. Spent one class making peanut butter sandwiches, spent another arguing with her about an answer the whole class found word for word in the book. When she realized it was in the book she shrugged and said, "Well, I like my answer better," and proceeded to mark everyone wrong. Avoid taking The Donna.

She has a number of good discussions that come up in class, she is VERY blunt about her political views and tends to make some somewhat snide comments. She also grades homework and quizzes somewhat harshly, on a 2 point scale. 2 points for full credit, 1 point if you get more than half of them right, and 0 if you get less than half right.

We had 100 points total. We were supposed to be learning about sustainable business principles but we spent more time talking about environmental studies issues rather than business. Donna is a super cool professor to talk to just not my favorite person to learn from. Classes were quite scattered as well.

Comment:
Donna is a kind, caring, and fair professor. She is far left-leaning, however she is open to and respectful of differing opinions. She respects others' opinions and encourages conversation in the class. She made ECO 336 enjoyable and interesting. She has only a mid-term and final, and grades them toughly. Participation matters but is easy.

I thought Dr. Anderson was an excellent professor. She was very straightforward with what will be on her exams and has practice exams that correlate to the real ones almost exactly. If you pay attention in class you will do well for sure.

Took Micro with her, she is a great teacher, very caring, and will help outside of class. She explains everything very well, and makes sure you understand it. You have to talk once a day for part of your grade, and there are easy daily exercises also. You take 2 midterms, and a final exam, and the lowest of your 2 midterms gets dropped.

She's very specific on what she wants for answers on exams, but is very good on helping you learn and memorize what she wants. Participation is very important to her and you're graded each day on your participation. Overall, her lectures are very clear, and you can tell she wants all of her students to succeed.

Very interesting class material. Most of the points come from 2 exams (you get to drop one) and a final. You also write a paper and get daily participation/exercise points. If you've had Dr. Anderson before, you know what you're getting into, but overall, I thought the class was very enjoyable.

Her class is enjoyable, though it feels more like a literature class, because most of class is spent in a circle discussing readings rather than drawing graphs. Enjoyable, and brought up a few good points, but I didn't learn a lot. To be fair, I already knew a lot on the subject matter, but the course didn't go into the depth I expected.

Anderson teaches one class at UWL and it's for good reason. She is a terrible professor with LOADS of one-sided opinions. I know multiple students from class who have filed actual complaints against her because of how terrible of a job she did at teaching our class. Extremely tough grader on tests that are mainly essay questions. Avoid at all costs

This class is called "Women in the US Economy" but really it should be called "History of Racial and Sex Discrimination." because you never, ever, talk about women in the US Economy. The class is incredibly difficult and if you don't like reading long articles every night where you have to memorize everything, do not take this class. It is awful.

Would not recommend this class to anyone, nor would I recommend Dr. Anderson to anyone. Her classes are brutally boring and she has no idea what she's talking about most of the time. A lot of one-sided opinions. Her tests are based on things out of the textbooks that are never once reviewed during class, you're just expected to know them.

Professor Anderson is one of the sweetest professors I've ever had. Very approachable, and makes class enjoyable. You get points just for showing up, and she drops one of the midterms. I'd definitely take her again!

Sometimes her lessons seem disorganized and she seems a little spacey, but overall, I really enjoyed her class. You get 1 point each class for just showing up and 2 points if you participate in class. I didn't think her exams were difficult because she takes a lot questions from previous in-class exercises and homework assignments.

No structure really at all. She will show you the graphs and gives you the info, but doesn't emphasize what will be tested on. She has a tough time getting points across.

Ask a question and response will be : "I don't know; does anyone else know?" Her tests are unclear and poorly written. She will take off points even if your answer is correct, because it is beyond her understanding. Its difficult to sit through lectures, having to correct her on core econ applications. She should try her hand at teaching preschool.

There is no real structure to this class. Would not suggest taking this course as an Economics major. Class was mostly based on reiterating news articles, and "thinking like an economist" - as most professors would describe - was not a skill that was strengthened through this course.

She makes up her own lectures on the spot and expects her exact words on the exam. One of the midterms is dropped which is nice. Not recommended if you are not an Economics major, like myself. Don't take her if you are in it for the gen ed.
