Comment:

Good prof, slightly stricter than the average teacher, but nothing irrational. Not the most informative/understandable but I understood her enough to do well. Work consisted of multiple papers and four tests, two of which had set dates and two that were surprises.

Comment:

Professor Schouman overall was lovely to have as a teacher and will pretty much tell you exactly what to do to get an A and as long as you do that you will be fine. She is very funny and overall made a class that I normally find very boring bearable.

My only criticism was that she cared way too much about the attendance of individuals. If you showed up to class but left early, she would count you as absent. She gave great feedback for papers if you asked questions, but she would sometimes shame u into learning things. Bad at emailing. Also you're really going to need the books.

She was amazing and very accessible outside of class for one on one help. She walks you through every mistake and gives you time for corrections. Her lectures can move fast if your behind but she didnt mind taking the time to slow down and help. Overall a pretty easy A if you put forth the effort and are not juvenile during her class

She does NOT use Canvas at all. She uses a folder for your work to be put in. Prepare not to ever know your grade. She can be good and bad at some times. Sometimes off topic. Assignments are boring and repetitive. Makes us write essays for no reason and didn't get a grade for them. Calls on you randomly to answer the questions from workbook.

There is alot of material that isn't mentioned in the syllabus. Expect to get useless in class assignments with confusing instructions that aren't clear. There are sub assignments on sub assignments on sub assignments for one essay assignment. I get a very "simon says" vibe from her instructions. Says "are you with me?" Frequently.

She is an easy grader, but she tends to be very hard-headed. She can be very disorganized at times and also spends too much time on one subject which tends to waste class time. Her lectures get too heavy for no reason. However, the paper she assigns are pretty straight forward. If you write the paper the way she wants, you will pass with an A.

she is the worst english professor ever and you will not pass her class. it is a waste of your time and money, she says your papers suck and she doesn't follow her syllabus at all. she can't hear you at all also, and is very forgetful so bottom line don't take her class EVER! she is terrible goodluck.. also always showed up late to class.

Honestly, her class is very easy. She's a very easy grader. there's no way you can fail her class. The only bad thing is that her class is very boring. She's a boring teacher, but overall she's very easy to take.

Professor Schouman is an overall nice person, but I feel that she doesn't know how to accept student opinions that are different from hers. She is a tough grader and you will do quite a bit of reading and writing of papers in this class. The summer course was intense with 3 papers, 1 research paper, a novel to read, and other assignments.

Schouman is the rudest professor i have ever encountered. She talks down to her students and makes them feel stupid. Her comments are degrading and she has a ridiculous course load for a summer class. 3 papers, a 10 page research paper-which is basically a glorified book report, a novel to read (along with other readings and assignments.)

Schouman showed up either right on the dot or late to class; she was never early. She took weeks to get grades back to you and questioned the students when we said we had not received grades back. Her lectures are dry; however, she is very clear. A little hard of hearing so sometimes it can be difficult to answer questions. DON'T go on your phone.

I took Mrs. Schouman for my first English class at Macomb Community College in Fall of 2014 and absolutely loved her class. She is a true teacher. If you do the work, participate and pay attention in class and are respectful there is no reason you shouldn't get an A. The homework is relatively easy as it is simply a few pages of grammar work.

She's a tough person, but gives GREAT feedback. When we write our papers she proof reads everyones paper. She also goes over each paragraph and tells you what she wants in it. She give two planned grammar quizzes and two pop quizzes. I'm glad the i took her class bec she help me a lot. Come prepared and at least five minutes early. ALWAYS DO HW!

Professor schouman is probably the easiest professor out there!! She walks you through your essays and she makes sure you have everything correct before you turn it in. Grammar homework is easy! She does call you to read your answers out, but she DOESN'T embarrass you!!!! Her class is so easy to get an A in and she's not a tough grader.

She's the best professor ever! So helpful and there for you. Her class is A-B range and not a tough grader at all. She's fair with grading. You'll be good as long as you do what's expected. I highly recommend her if you want an easy A!!
