Doreen Arcus is an awful human being. She misses class, forgets things, cant think straight, and we are expected to feel bad for her. BUT when a student misses class, or forgets something we are DOOMED. She does not care about her students at all. Shes pretentious and mean. She fails you even if you try & is NO HELP. It's RIDICULOUS. RUN FROM HER.

Dr. Arcus is by FAR the worst professor I've ever had at UML. She earned her PHD at Harvard, and she won't let you forget it. She also thinks that everyone should be as smart as she is, and if you don't do the work the way she would do it, you fail. She is not understanding, even though she expects us to be understand of her. SHES PLAIN AWFUL.

She is pretentious and mean spirited!!! Passed me with a 72 I needed a 73 or better. I had to fight this to get into Research Methods 2. She was mad because I criticized her online presentations and unclear answers. I told someone in the solution center must of got back to her. Anyway, lots of mental anguish over this.

Quizzes and exams are online. Class builds up to a research proposal of your own creation. The stats and hypothesis tests sections were heavy in theory - hard to understand sometimes. Wish class had more real application before proposal, including writing an abstract, intro, etc. Very knowledgeable and funny. Made the concepts interesting.

This is a very hard subject to begin with. I felt like going to class was the equivelant of going to a doctor with the language. Nothing was put into plain English. I am an A student who struggled very much in this class! I am hoping just to have passed it and be done with it. My advice is take this class along and not in the summer.

This class is the hardest I've taken yet. She is a bit rude when responding to students questions and does not give any additional help when asked. There are three exams, and they are all extremely challenging. The quizzes are weekly and are rather easy but only count for 5% of your grade. I would have been more successful if it wasn't for her teaching style. Horrible!

Doreen is super fun and she's always extremely lively. She knows what she is talking about. If you like research, she is your girl because she understands everything and is willing to explain it to you 20 different ways. She's a tough grader but I learnt so much because I had to do the work and I had to do it well that I ended up appreciating her.

Dr. Arcus is extremely intelligent and it shows in everything she does. She can be helpful but it feels she often presents things in ways you haven't learned yet. The class is challenging and her test questions are vague and somewhat cryptic. Verbiage can be excessive and is not always what is used in the book. Discussions and readings are vital!

She is very hard. I do not recommend taking her!! She can be very rude about things. Her questions on quizzes and tests are very broad making it difficult to figure out the right answer. You don't do well on the first test? Might as well withdraw at that point.

Was a tough class because the subject is pretty tough. Prof Arcus does her very best to help in every way. She answers any questions in detail through chat or discussion board. Big final research proposal that she will guide you through if you just ask for clarification. Toughest class online so far but will take one with her again if I can.

I loved her class. Research II is challenging as it is but she really cares about her students. You have quizzes every week, written assignments every week, and 3 exams along with a final. TA was also very helpful. ASK FOR HELP OR CLARITY IF YOU ARE EVEN 20% UNSURE. You're allowed to use everything on exams too which helps A LOT.

Took this class online Fall 2012. By far the hardest class I've done..you need to ask a hundred and one questions because the professor will not help you or explain otherwise. My research report got a really good grade but the rest of the class my grade was lacking; she will take points off even if you miss a period while citing.

I took Dr. Arcus over the summer for Research II Statistics, it was a tough class and she did her best to help us understand the material, which is even harder to do. A lot of us were struggling but as long as you stay active with discussion she will work with you to help grasp the material.

I took this course online. I found the material to be difficult and the professor not easy to relate to. She responds and grades as if we have mastered the material already. Questions are often trick questions and hard to understand with the way she phrases them, yet expects a specific answer her way. Expect to use chat and get a lower grade.

Dr. Arcus is one of the best teachers I've ever had, in fact I'm taking Research II with her next semester. If you can enroll in one of her classes I highly recommend it. Her class does require a good amount of work, but its not the most demanding class I've ever taken. Arcus is so sweet and energetic in the classroom, and an overall great teacher!
