His class is lectured base. He gives you homework before you even learn the material so its up to you to read. You do homework online. He tells you clearly what will be on the test. You get a cheat sheet for it. Group project should be easy if everyone participates

Laufer is one of the best professor's i have ever had. The class is difficult to keep up with, but definitely doable. The class isn't too difficult though, but you do have to do your work and actually study for these tests. YOU GET A CHEAT SHEET for the exams which is very helpful and he is very blunt about what will be on the test. GREAT CLASS!!!

I think Laufer is a solid professor for Intermediate Accounting I. He doesn't use powerpoint lectures. Instead, he hands out a one/two paged handout and goes over it on the board. Pay close attention to how he got the solution on your handout and you should be fine for his exams.

I wasn't a fan of Doug's approach. I felt like he never built upon a concept or previous lectures. You learn a topic one class and move on to something completely different the next. There is no reviewing previous lessons. Honestly didn't take anything away from the class.

Not a good Professor. Definitely has favorites and will group them for projects etc.. Wish the course was taught by someone else but for ACC 3510 you are stuck with him.

I really liked this teacher. He gives homework every class period that is not graded, but if you do it you will be able to understand lectures and be much more prepared for exams. He teaches his students that there is rarely just one way of doing things, and helps people learn to think for themselves. He also tells you what will be on exams.

Brilliant professor. If you get through his class you will actually know accounting. Willing to work you hard, which despite what most people say is a good thing. Doug taught me how to think for myself and learn on my own. Most professors don't care enough to teach you those skills. Thanks Doug.

Laufer expects you to know what your current standing in class is; he won't hold your hand to tell you your current grade. His test are hard. Most of the test material is from in class examples and handouts, not so much the book. He tells you what to expect on the test, but the tests are very hard. He gives opportunity for TONS of extra credit.

The worst teacher in the MSU Accounting department. Vague, unhelpful and does not return graded assignments. He does not teach, he depends on outdated videos, student presentations and guest speakers to teach the class material. What a disappointing experience for an such an interesting topic.

Dr. Laufer knows his stuff. Intermediate ACCT is NOT AN EASY CLASS. However I took this class online and his tests are VERY difficult. The grading system is tough, cause you can lose a lot of points quickly for simple mistakes. But I guess this class is meant to set you up for the real world.

I actually had Doug for two classes. He has a very informal teaching style, and jumps around in the book. He gives out assignments before the topic is covered in class, which are submitted and graded before being covered in lecture. Also, since his grading seems sort of fuzzy there is no way to actually track your grade in his class.

Intermediate I is not easy. You will need to read and do the practice homework before class because he will call you out regularly. But Laufer will make sure you learn something in his class. I think he is pretty cool and cares about helping his students not just in class but in their careers.

Doug is horrible. He doent teach. You teach yourself, his way is that read before class and do the homework before class and the in class talk about the homework and any questions you had on teaching yourself new stuff. Tests are cool though get to have a sheet of paper of notes.
