This is the third class I've taken with DL. Each one was one of the hardest classes I've taken, but I learned a lot. This class specifically tops my list for favorite CSC classes because DL loves teaching parallelism (he wrote many of the concurrency libraries in Java). I'd recommend a class with DL to anybody looking for upper-level CSC credits.

One of the smartest if not the smartest person Ive ever met. He knows everything there is to know about parallelism, helps he wrote half the java concurrent libraries. If you get through the first few weeks, he does everything he can to keep you around and caught up. If you don't start assignments the week assigned, you probably wont finish.

Taking class with prof lea turns you into a real programmer. Gives very vague assignements, but this freedom allows you to truly learn how to code. Be ready to work a lot on the 3 projects. Hard class, but you will learn a crazy amount from DL

DL is a fantastic professor. He knows a great deal, gives you all the information that you need in order to finish your assignments and understand the topic. If you're having trouble he helps you solve your problems yourself, and is very encouraging. Many people have difficulties in his 365 course because he tries to have you connect dots yourself

Doug Lea is great for stereotypical computer scientists. Prepare to do the most boring and difficult work in your college career. You will learn a ton though -- just make sure you take detailed notes of his lectures.

Super funny professor! Really nice! Usually answers your questions with another question but that's okay! He makes your work towards the solution but he won't leave you high and dry.

He is amazing. I have never met a professor who cares more for their students than he does. I don't know how he does it, but somehow he finds a way to insert knowledge directly into your brain. I would have taken all of my classes with him if there was anyway I could have.

Taken just about every class DL offers but complier. He is one of the best teachers you could ever ask for. He wont hand you anything for free, but put in the effort then help you shall receive. Will answer just about any question at anytime, even if it is not regarding a class of his. If you want to learn to be a great programmer/Soft Eng take him

He is one of the best Computer Science professors as this school. Some people say "oh he can't teach", or "he doesn't help you". It's called you're an idiot. You have to put a lot of work into his classes and you learn a lot. I have taken CSC375, 436, 444, 380, and 445. You become a real programmer.

Doug Lea is a very interesting teacher. He does not help students who are not willing to take the first step on their own. If you want the class handed to you, goto community college. If you are here to learn, dl's classes are the ones for you.

DL is one of the more knowledgable professors at SUNY. He's a widely recognized expert in the field of Java. But that doesn't mean he can teach. All he does really is guide you to understanding the things you probably would have figured out on your own.
