a really excellent professor; very nice, extremely fair, and always helpful. his lectures are fast paced and packed with facts, but also are really easy to follow and very interesting. i went in to the class thinking,"oh no, another core class", and Smith made it my favorite class i've taken at oxy!

Very Clear, Fair Grader. He is not the lecture type, but that doesn't make his classes uninteresting, his prep school background leads him to prefer interactive conversation, which I personally think is more productive. He's bomb.

While I enjoyed this course, Prof Smith can at times be very simplistic when I felt the class was ready for more depth. He also felt the annoying need to always keep the class for the full time period even when we had covered all of the material.

He is a very good professor because he knows his material. He is not in any way arrogant or intimidating I found which makes discussion and dialogue much smoother. Hes somewhat of an easy grader,but as a freshman you do improve your writing skills.

Smith is an outstanding professor. He has a really great understanding of the material, and assigns interesting reading, has good in-class discussions, and explains concepts. Doesn't grade as hard as people say. Tests require study, but aren't impossible.
