Dr. Horner is an excellent professor and he knows what he is talking about. Yes you have a mega paper to write and lots of little assignments to write but you are in college , so that's normal. I have so much respect for this professor, he will help you whenever you ask. He has passion when he lectures and has a dry sense of humor. One of my favs.

Such a great guy! He is very wise & smart. Also, he LOVES participation & when students ask questions in (& outside) of class. Do not feel that any of your questions are dumb, he is more afraid of giving a bad answer than hearing a stupid question. He is not that strict of a grader, but make sure to listen in class.

Dr. Horner will be your biggest advocate and help you help yourself. People that complain about his class are whiners. As previously stated he has a realist perspective on life and I find it quite refreshing personally. Show up and do the work. Don't be an ass and he won't be either.

This class is required if you are a sowk major so there's now way to get around it. So grit your teeth and try your best. You have 1 huge paper and on top of that there's little assignments here and there, alot of reading, midterm and finals are all essay questions, and this class was very boring to me! Overrall I hated this class! Good Luck!!

This class is extremely difficult. It is all based around 1 paper and what he wants is never really clear. He is not helpful at all. The final was ridiculous - on the last day of class he gave us another writing assignment due on the day of the final. He thinks that he is fair, but he is not.

Great teacher, but you might not understand his humor. There are 3 papers that you have to write, which are not too hard because the outlines he gives are very straightforward. There are no exams/tests/quizzes. You have to do 55 hours of community service and journals to go along with them. You attend class 2/3 days a week after you start service.

Great professor! Knows a lot in the field of Social Work. Attend, attend, attend the class. I took the community volunteer class and the papers were quite easy... get in your 55 hours of service! Very much enjoyed the class!

Dr. Horner might seem like a bear personality-wise at first, but that's merely due to his realist perspective about life. I found him to be really funny, myself. He was really helpful and knew a tremendous deal about his trade. I suppose the difficulty of his work depends mostly on where you apply for job shadowing, but his own papers weren't bad.
