BSC1005c This class is for non science majors. If you are not that interested in Biology I wouldn't take Dr. Beaman. He is a great teacher but really hard. Horrible little man. Essay only test format.No homework, just 30 pages of notes between tests and only 20 questions on test. No idea what to study. Wants word for word answers from his lecture. Knowing the concept will only get you partial credit. Don't be late and don't even think about using the restroom during class. Grade will be affected.

just follow his simple rules and you won't get any grade deductions (dnt b late, no cellphones). tests are short answers, no scantrons - if u can memorize well, u wont have trouble in his class. gives u d option of not taking d final if u did well on previous tests. lectures r clear, but asking him out of class can be intimidating so ask IN class!!

Very very difficult Professor! His tests are ruthless...Study like there is no tomorrow. I learned a lot from his class but my grade didn't reflect it. He gives essay form test ONLY and is very particular when you answer so watch your wording...Biology is not an easy subject but so if you take this class be prepared!

Horrible. The class was as frustrating as it was boring. I would answer questions correctly on the free respose test, and since it was not word for word with his key, he would mark it wrong. No real thought on his part while grading, but since there is no homework, tests kill. Oh well, looks like I will not be able to become a nuerosurgeon.

It's too bad he is retiring after this semester (spring 2006). His tests are difficult, but you learn the material. You needed days to study for his tests. It is different than studying for a scantron test. His class rules are reasonable (no tardies without penalties, no cell phones on).

beamann is a tough teacher, hes really intellectual but this is one of the hardest class i have ever taken at hcc. take PERFECT notes, his tests are unreal, more than 50 percent of his class does not pass. even if you study like crazy you still will not have an A.

i LOVED his class on human reproduction. it was very interesting. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. RETURN IT IMMEDIATELY 4 a full refund. u must take excellent notes--- especially on the drawings! memorize the drawings. the tests r difficult- it's all about ur notes. u can't wing it 4his tests. show up to class- DEFINITELY do extra credit. cell phones OFF!

Do not take this class with this professor. Yes, you do need a microcasstee recoder, but even then it;s not worth it. He grades very hard, and his tests are very hard. I came to class everyday, and was early everyday, and I did not hear about any extra credit, so I don't know what people are talking about. About 75% of my class was failing before t

If you purchased a book for this class - RETURN IT! Immediately buy yourself a mini-cassette recorder because you'll need it. The ENTIRE grade is based on 3 tests, and his tests are ENTIRELY made up from his lectures. His grading on tests is horrible - HOWEVER, show up every day, do the extra credit, participate, and you WILL pass. I just got an A.
