By far the best professor I have taken at UCR. He literally changed my life and viewpoint on the world and I am so grateful I ended up in his class. The class was very conversational. Take home essays for the midterm and final. There's a lot of reading so be prepared! Overall, a great professor and person.

Prof. Rodriquez is a very passionate teacher and I definitely recommend going to all lectures because his midterm and final questions revolve around definitions and key points that he gives during lecture. Yes there is a lot of reading, did I read every word from the 600+ pages he assigned? No. Skim, make notes for the open book tests A.

Dylan is extremely passionate about the stuff he teaches and I love that but his class is ridiculously hard!! He expects you to read all the material he assigns. He assigns a lot of reading be prepared when you take his class,he is not an easy grader. Cool guy but his class was ridiculously hard. I scratched a C+ and I did just about everything

I've taken 2 classes with him and DO NOT expect any of his classes to be easy. LOTS AND LOTS of reading, always. Very biased about race and tries to force his views on you. Uses really hard vocabulary in lectures that's hard to understand. But in my upper div class, he's not a hard grader so just work hard to get through the readings!

One of the most amazing professors you will ever have the privilege of meeting. Every one of his lectures is as emotionally provocative as an MLK speech. He teaches you knowledge that can be used to making this world a better place.

He speaks with such a large vocabulary its like i have to spend two minutes trying to decipher every single thing he says. It might be impossible to understand what he's saying witout a good explination from your ta. Readings are ridiculous, wayy too much. But pay attention to what the TA says and do allll readings. I got an A+ so itsnot impossible

Lots of readings. Hard to understand, but if you ask questions he'll be more than happy to explain. VERY VERY TEDIOUS WORK, but I learned so much from this class. You will definitely see things in a different light after taking this course.. Main tips on getting a good grade - GO TO ALL HIS LECTURES, make use of discussion, AND DO THE READINGS!

If you're looking for an easy A, I don't recommend this class. There is a lot of reading and if you fall behind, it is almost impossible to catch up. But it is defiantly an interesting class though. Sections are helpful, so are his office hours. If you are a dedicated student, I recommend this class. Good luck!

The class was interesting. A LOT of reading, 1st test was hard, the rest were easy. He is very helpful and likes talking to students. He has a high vocab & at times it's hard to understand but once you read your notes you realize it's not so difficult to understand. Great professor! He definitely opened my eyes, recommend this class 4 hard workers

This professor is tough. He requires over a thousand pages of reading. He requires you to do all of the readings which on top of other classes is extremely time consuming. His lectures are hard to keep up with and overall this class was tough.

The amount of reading you have to do is ridiculous, so beware before taking this class. He seems like he's passionate about what he teaches, but that doesn't make the class any easier. The reading is interesting, but extremely time consuming.

The good thing is that he's very passionate about what he teaches. However, the amount of readings you'll have to do will be extremely overwhelming! His lectures are hard to understand because he doesn't get to the point and uses difficult words. To do well, it is a MUST to join a big study group and divide the work!

I was so lucky to have passed this class. The only reason why I passed was because we formed study groups and studied our bottoms off. He makes you buy five books that all talk about the same thing just different races. He also makes you print a 600 page course reader that you hardly use. Don't take if you want an easy A

I tried to study with ppl to understand what was going on on the books. He's a good professor..but it was a huge midstake to make us read all that(which i didnt)He's smart

Do not take Ethnic Studies if you are looking for an easy A. Professor Rodriguez definitely made it hard for students to get an A. There are 200-300 pages of reading each week and we have to print around 1000 pages ourselves. His wording is confusing.

He is passionate about the subject he teaches, but he is very incomprehensible. Uses tons of huge vocabulary that makes it hard to understand any of his lectures. Assigns heavy reading. It is easy to pass the class but you have to work hard and make sure you study and do ALL the readings.
