Earl is awesome. He's super funny and approachable. You have to put in work to get the grade you want but he is very good at explaining material and is always willing to help outside of class. Definitely recommend!

Earl is a great professor and really got me interesting in philosophy. His lectures are really engaging and he makes you want to listen and take notes. This is a class that I would recommend because I really enjoy it. You have a midterm, paper and a final, that's it. Very great professor!

Earl is a pretty cool guy. You really don't need to read, but it helps if you want to participate. If you just pay attention and take notes, you don't need to study hard. He is a tough grader, but as long as you elaborate and give details, you'll get at least an A-.

Really knows about everything he's talking about, and is really good at getting the point across. Keeps lessons interesting, not boring. He jokes around a lot and tells stories about his life and his cats, which is funny. Good amount of work, fair grader, and a really nice guy overall

Earl is a great teacher! He is a fair grader, there is a good amount of reading but he is very good at explaining everything that is read. Attendance doesn't seem mandatory, but attending really helps you understand the readings. Notes really help in the tests. Only a midterm final and one paper(PL SOC&POL). REALLY GREAT CLASS!

Spurgin is a great teacher. Show up to class, ask questions if you are confused - he is willing to help you. Light on reading assignments - really you don't have to read. Tests were easy if you take notes in class and looked at them before the test. He's the best!

Earl is a nice guy dont get me wrong,but when your grade comes down to two tests and a final and you do not as well as you thought you're going to be upset class can be boring and he grades way to hard for the content grades more like an english teacher then philosophy teacher I heard he curves but I'm sure therea are easier teachers I give him a C
