At the beginning, this class seemed like a piece of cake, but trust me, it's not. He grades harsh, and won't explain why he docked you points. Personally, I DO NOT recommend him as a professor. Anyone else.

Dr. Bowen is an impressive professor, and I'm glad to have taken his class this semester. I learned some interesting things about the fine arts that I'd never known before, and the performances we went to were spectacular. Too bad he's retiring...

Total art nazy if u ask me....went to his office several times even when he asked me to and he's never there!!! I think he should go to a liberal arts school where they specialize in art like UofO, but not UofP. Other people are actually busy with classes that UofP is famous for (Nursing, Engineering, Business and Biology). He expects us to go to theaters, galleries, symphony and all that crap and pay oh i dunno $40-$50 for a ticket. he can kma

You can easily ace this class without going on a daily basis. He puts the notes on worksheets, so fill them out and save them, all semester. Also, save your exams throughout the semester, because he uses them to create the final. Just learn the terms, and go on the visits to different things.

The material here is pretty dry since this is a survey couse, but Bowen manages to liven it up a bit. He gives great feedback and is very enthusiastic about the material. For this particular course, I would say he's the cream of the crop, but the course itself leaves something to be desired.
