Absolutely horrible. He is constantly lagging on about irrelevant things ( some he repeats over and over again), and tests you on things you have not covered in class. He makes offensive, inappropriate jokes consistently. If he decides he doesn't like you you will not get full credit, even when someone else didn't get marked off for the same thing.

Took his Marine Biology class last semester. The first exam was pretty rough but after that it's easy. He knows what he is talking about but rambles on about things that should not be said. Write down everything he says! The guy asked when was Abe lincoln's birthday on the final! Lol! Still got an A missing a lecture here and there. Don't sweat.

Favorite professor so far. He made me fall in love with marine life. Tarvyd is a great professor, kind, clear, and sometimes funny. He will help if you ask. Take notes! The tests are not too hard to pass if you go to the lectures and review; lab test is not that crazy, just learn to spell the names!

He is a great professor and he makes class fun. He's pretty great at explaning things to get you to understood the concepts well. BUT, his lab tests are ridiculously hard (there are two kinds of tests in this class - regular tests and lab tests). Could easily bring your grade down if you mess up just on one since they're worth a lot of points each.

SO AMAZING. He is so experienced, been to Tahiti many times in his life and has met a lot of cool people. All taught off of memory, he is rad. Hard tests but you can get 20 extra credit points if you go to Morro Bay or the Aquariums.

If you have good memoriztion this class is for you, otherwise stay away. He's really cool, but he goes off topic. I got a C, didnt attend all lectures but went to EVERY lab. It's interesting but extremely dense, start studying from day one and never stop! TRUST ME!

Really good teacher but his tests are pretty hard. Lots of stuff to memorize. If you like drawing, take his class. He teaches from memory and his lectures are kind of boring. Echinodermata FTW!!!

Tarvyd is a gem. This class is not easy and there is a lot to wrap your head around, but Tarvyd is always available for help and wants you to succeed. His labs are so fun that you'll find that the 4 hours fly by. He makes the content interesting and relates every aspect of work to his life experiences and adventures. I loved this class!

This is not an easy class if you are not willing to study. He is a GREAT Professor! He is willing to help if you ask. He gets very distractive when it comes to his lessons and his life stories.4 exams, drops 1 & are based on his notes and not on the internet. A Lab exam that is hard but study and you'll do fine. ATTEND TUTORING, IT HELPS!!!!

I took his zoology 05 class and I did not enjoy the class! His lectures were extremely hard to sit through and the way he talked made it hard to understand. His tests are ridiculously hard and all spelling counts! I did every assignment and the extra credit but still got a C because the tests were almost impossible.

write down all of his notes and study them, follow his study guide and you will get at least a B, his lab test is difficult, and the extra credit helps. Extremely fun and informative class, get to learn a lot of cool things and play with stuff in the lab.

Tarvyd is a genius! He is so passionate and lectures everything from memory. Tests are multiple choice and are easy if you study. He is funny and his labs are enjoyable. Although he repeats things a lot including several phrases such as, "what we refer to" and "particular". I love this class. He makes me love marine bio even more!

Tarvyd is one of the best professors I've had at SMC! I took him for Marine Bio and Zoology. We did alot of drawings which I enjoyed! The hardest part is remembering all the names of the species, so study up! If you show you are interested he'll love you! But don't try too hard, you'll not only annoy the class, but also Tarvyd. He's awesome

I had a great time in Marine Bio with Tarvyd. He tells so many stories and there are some funny ones. These stories connect with the class. He gives lots of notes so you have to study them. He is very lenient with grades cause he wants his students to pass.

This professor is absolutely brilliant. He has years of life experience in his field, and shares it all with you. He makes connections in class to history, literature, and every subject imaginable. Extremely difficult and rigorous class, but he's willing to help you. The lab is great hands on experience. Study and memorize everything he says!
