His lectures move slowly and you learn well. The tests are a little harder yet still pretty easy if you know the class contents well Beware that sometimes he can be a little slower and not covering the exact contents on the test objectives he gives out the beginning of the quarter It would be more helpful if you can find someone who just took him

I had Professor Mottel for Honors and Chem III. His lectures can be boring if you've had a particularly long night, but he knows the material and how to teach it well. He's always answered my emails when I've struggled with a problem. Overall, he's a great professor.

Dr. Mottel is a good lecturer, but sometimes his powerpoints get long and boring. The biggest problem is that he doesn't have set office hours and he can be really hard to find.

I had him for Chem112-03. I did not like him. He was a hard grader and lots of the time he didn't make any sense. I felt like the class just involved throwing around a bunch of things without any logic!

Amazing prof! he's really smart and, so long as you know some chemistry, he's a great teacher. He takes care of his students and will do almost anything to make sure you pass. Just do the homework and pay attention in class and you'll be fine. Tests are fairly easy and short and notes are all provided printed out for you to supplement.great for lab

had for hnrs chem. I'm male, so no sexism problems. Have heard bad things form females, but have no proof. Other than that, great teacher. Loves undergrad teaching, excellent powerpoints (posted on internet) pretty easy tests, labs harder. nice, good humored. likes discussing things. Very methodical, uses same prob sets every year. combover warning

He really understands what he's talking about. Frequently overuses powerpoint for lectures, but not too bad. He's a little bias, but if you work hard enough a good grade is easy to pull off

Great professor, although I wouldn't recommend the class to any freshman that they try to suck in. Drop it if you can, unless you like spending 4 hours in the lab once a week to accomplish very little. Don't believe the hype.

Mottel seems to genuinely love Chemistry. He will do what he has to, even helping one on one in class, to help you understand. I was able to follow him very easily and would recommend him for anyone who isn't a chem major.

Very helpful outside of class. Flexible with due dates. Does a pretty good job explaining concepts. Tests didn't seem extremely hard, but I knew some stuff already from ES202. Class is usually a little quiet and boring, but can be interesting if you really pay attn. It worked for me in the afternoon, but I wouldn't recommend him for a morning prof.

He's a really nice guy who is genuinely concerned that you understand the material. He is willing to work with you one-on-one whenever the need arises. His homework is good at helping you understand the material, but his tests are on the hard side. Overall, pretty good experience.

This guy is very helpful. He will push you and push you to your absolute best on the questions in the lab manual. He is determined that you understand the material. We even set up our own little experiment together (ok, sounds weird), but it helped me learn more. If you are eager to learn, have him!
