Really easy. Pay attention in class, take notes, and do your homework, and you'll never need to read the textbook. Open note quizzes every class (2 questions), exams (10 q) every Friday meaning you can't miss class, and a homework (5 q) every Wednesday, but with so many grades it's hard not to get an A. Mildly interesting.

There is an open note quiz every class which you can work on with the people around you. Also, every Friday there is a 10 question multiple choice exam which is pretty easy as long as you study the lecture notes that he posts online. His lectures can be boring at times but aren't too bad. Overall, the class is an easy A with minimal studying.

He's mean the first day to weed people out, but after that it's all fine. Homework and assessments are pretty easy. Show up every day because the daily quizzes are open note/collaborative (easy A!). Don't worry too much about the math. He has a tendency to rant about old poems not being accurate to modern science, but other than that he's fine.

This class stressed me out before i started to attend the review sessions (offered before every exam AND hw due date); since then, the class was very manageable and pleasant. I could appreciate the material & his love for art and poetry. He is very passionate. Many complain about the class bc they don't utilize the class website w all the tools

This class was ridiculous. First of all, astronomy is NOT learning the order of the planets. SECOND of all the grading is EXTREMELY vague and 75% of the class had their average drop two letter grades AFTER classes ended for the semester because apparently they needed to redo the grades in canvas. Absolute trash.

His lectures are very boring. You have a test every Friday, and pop mini quizzes (you are allowed to cheat) every class day. I think it is an easy class. The final is optional and it replaces your lowest 3 test grades. You have a hw assignment due every week. TA's hold weekly help sessions for hw and test prep! Go to these and you get an A :)

Doesn't care about his students. I actually loved astronomy and read some of the interesting notes to my friends because I enjoyed his class, until I went to see him in office hours and he told me to drop out because my grade was so bad. I had a C+ in the class. He forgets everything he says or hears and is very arrogant.

I am shocked by some of these comments. AST 301 is super easy. You just need to know basic math. Robinson makes the concepts extremely easy. He is clearly so passionate about the subject. My only grievance is that lectures are a little boring. But even if you don't pay attention, he posts lecture outlines online. Take this class. It's very easy.

This man loves stars. The lectures were very boring and I spent most of my time online shopping, but he's the sweetest human alive. There's an easy collaborative quiz at the end of every class and a 10 question test every Friday. Life-saving help sessions are offered. An 83+ is an A. He drops 3 quizzes. Optional final. Super easy, but super boring.

Robinson is actually a really cool teacher! He gives out homework every week that is due Wednesday, and a short 10 question MC test every Friday. The TAs are helpful; there are test review sessions and homework sessions that are hosted every week. He makes his own notes for his own lectures! He also has short, easy quizzes at the end of every class

Although this is one of the more difficult AST301 classes, Dr. Robinson is very kind and offers you all of the tools on his website that you need to be successful. You only need an 83 to get an A (though this is not AS easy as it sounds). He truly cares about what he teaches and is there to help. He also relates his lectures to art and poetry!!

This class is awesome! I am a liberal arts student, and it is enjoyable and the professor makes learning fun! I would 11/10 recommend this class. There are weekly assignments, but they are always insightful and not difficult at all. You will get what you give to this class! And I can not stress how enjoyable it is!

Took Robinson's 2012 Spring Class. Do not recommend. Lots of homework and there is INTEGRATED physics, chemistry, and higher level math. DO NOT LET THE CURVE FOOL YOU.

Take bio or chem for non-science majors. This class was alot of work and the concepts were integrated with alot of other science disciplines. Also, be ready to do ALOT of math.

Don't let the curve fool you. I would take AST 301 with Shapiro or Ries. There is ALOT of work, and he talks kind of quiet. Get ready for alot of integrated physics, chemistry, and math.

Robinson grades on a curve so if you end up with an 83 or higher, you actually have an A in the class! I found that going to the review sessions before the test really helped... like, REALLY helped. Robinson really enjoys what he teaches! I thought having a test every Friday was efficient because the tests weren't cumulative!
